i got one of these and it did release the white dust. gets over everything. sucked.

I have one of these "swamp coolers" in the veg room and one in the flower room. I thought the model was being discontinued so I bought another as a spare; these really are good.

You must not live in a damp climate. Mold and pm sucks in damp climate. If the rooms hit over 60 somethings gonna go wrong. Even in dry times i never add humidity ever though.
To the op, any humidifier with a dial to control would work. The ones with one or two settings arent very versatile. Humidifiers seem to last for years if you keep the green slime out of them.

If ur rt/rh are good normally then u dont need to fix nothing., but if ur rt is over 90+ and ur rh in veg is like 10-25% then fix it if not it will hurt., if ur rh in flower is 60-80 then u need to fix it., thats what im talking about if u have good rh/rt during the whole grow then ur slogan makes sense...has never done anything to my yeilds my moto is dont fix somthing if it is not broken

I would go with something that will throw water into the air as a mist.
