humidity

With a dehumidifier I suppose. Bad smell? I love the smell! No just joking with ya, the smell all depends on the strain, and your personal conditions.
Where I am it's pretty private, and I never worried about the smell. I can never smell it throughout my house, I can tell you that. You may need to take steps to be rid be of the smell though, if stealth is what you are aiming for.
I think there's directions around here somewhere for an "odor removing machine".
Peace
what the best way to control the humidity? and another question, how bad does a plant smell?

ok, so I had my humidifier on, and I don't have a guage thing, is there an easy way of telling appr. humidity? I usualy turn the humidifier on for only 10-15 minutes, and the room is cloudy w/moisture, is that too much?

You need to find out what the humidity level is before you can take steps to correct it. It sound like yours is to high. Around 50% rh is ideal. more details of your growing area might be helpful. VV

You bought the wrong thing. You want a DE-humidifier. That extracts moisture from the air, whereas a humidifier introduces moisture an theres no point to that since the water in your soil evapourates into your room.

Another good way to cut back on the humidity is to make sure your resovoir is covered should it be in the same room as your lights.

Buy a cheap termometer with a guage on it that will read the humidity. You can pick on up at Home Depot for less then $8.

A humidity and temperature gauge are essential in any growroom. Daytime conditions should be 70-80 degrees without co2, 80-90 degrees with co2 until the last two weeks when daytime temps should be kept between 70-80 and co2 can be reduced to adjust for the lower metabolism. Night temperatures should be kept above 60 degrees to prevent stress. It is preferrable during flowering to have a night temperature drop of 10-20 degrees to stimulate flowering hormones and reduce stem elongation.

Dude, you want around 70% for early seedling development, 55-70% during veg and 30-40% during flower

wo, I'm confused........ I've heard "dehumidifier" and "humidifier".... I am growing in my basement room closet, and the air gets pretty dry down there, so I figured more moisture... I don't know, I get payed on sunday so I'll just buy one of the temp/humidity gages... they've done alright so far...

how do you know he bought the wrong thing. He doesn't even know what the humidity in the room is so he doesn't know if it should be raised or lowered.

No, he didn't mention if it was too high or too low, my guess is with a mist in the air it is too high.

In either case, its far easier to extract humidity with a machine and introduce it otherwise (like spraying ^) than it would be to introduce it with a machine and extract it otherwise.
