humidity

ok, so here's the deal. i have a hydrofarm hothouse which i am attempting to clone in. i can't seem to get the relative humidity any higher than 50% no matter what i do. this particular model comes with a 17 watt heat mat which doesn't really do much good to me at the moment, because it doesn't increase humidity. this model also has vents on the top, and i've tried every single combination of ventilation possible with this thing. i've sprayed the inside repeatedly, but again, only 50% rh. temps are right around 82 or so, and at the moment i can't get them any lower than that. my question is, has anyone else had this issue with this particular unit? is there something i'm missing? i know i need to keep my rh at 90-100% in order to prevent my clones from wilting completely, but i'm just not having any luck. does anyone have any advice?

have you tried closing all the vents off completely and just giving them air a couple of times a day?you could also try putting acup of water on the heat mat as this warms up it will increase humidity.

i had been trying to avoid putting water en masse underneath the dome, but it looks like i'm going to have to explore that avenue. thanks for your input

okay, we have still made no progress. as of today, all of my clones that i took earlier in the week are dead. that means i got a 0% strike rate. not too good for my first time. i still can't get the relative humidity above 50%, no matter what my temps are. i've tried closing all of the vents, even going so far as taping them completely closed, and still i cannot get the damned humidity up. i am beginning to think i wasted the money buying this stupid piece of crap
