Hydro guy seeks organic advice

Yo dudes, only ever used rockwool and mineral nutrients add to that the fact my Rez is teaming with hydrogen peroxide. Noticed a friends weed is the smoothest most flavourful I've ever smoked, when I asked how he does it he says 1 word "organic". Now I can't grow outdoors but I'd like to try and grow one plant in organic soil indoors. I like the idea of only ever watering with water and the plants getting all they need from the soil. I need advice about what soil to use what to add to it and to whAt ratios. When to transplant and what type of soil to transplant to. As u can tell I'm a total noob with this soil stuff so please be gentle. Cheers

If you are just wanting to TRY organic growing i would go the easy route and get a bag of FFOF that will take you threw veg with no nutrients then just add fox farms big bloom organic for flower. That's the cheapest easiest way to get started.

Thanks mAte will I not need to transplant into a larger pot at any point, I wanna fill a 2x1' scrog net with it.

Ffof is not organic has synthetic urea. Fox farm nutes are not organic either. They have edta and several other chems and heavy metals not listed on the bottle.

building a soil mix would be cheaper than buying bagged soil. you still gotta mix the dry nutes, castings and compost in there too,

I had a quick flick through rols and subs threads, making my own soil will be far too time consuming as I already have 1 op to run. Was just wondering if there was any high quality organic pre mixed soils that I can get my hands on in the uk.

It seems that most soils available round here are either a light mix for babies or a nitrogen rich mix for veg. Looked for bloom soils but came up with little info.

I know something I get from a bag ain't Gona compare to what u guys make, I just want something in between something where I can just repot my plant rather than giving it additives. I like the idea of my plant getting all it needs from its soil and not a bottle.

Not sure what they have there but vermifire is a good soil to use. I have used this soil from beginning to end with no nutrients added. Just gotta have enough room for the roots.
You say making your own soil is too time consuming, I can understand that, I have a more than fulltime job and girlfriend, dog, hobbies etc.
Making your own soil batch can easily be done in one afternoon.
If you are truly interested in growing top notch herb, it's well worth it to make your own soil and then age it for two months and presto, it'll be better than anything bagged by far, and done right you can re-use it and further still i'd bet that after you dial it in, you'd forget about hydro altogether.

Everyone Is Looking Past his original question. He is looking for a one time "test" to try out organics. I really can't see someone buying all the amendments and mixing a soil letting to cook for a month just togrow oone plant to test out organic herb.

yes fox farms is not 100% organic but then again is anything in a bottle?

I have never heard of big bloom having the edtas and all that. Even the Rev recommends it. So your saying if you use big bloom it will Wipeout your microherd? And Fox farm soils are not "Alive"not bbacteria or fungi? Or it just has one or two synthetic sources in it?
my suggestion is as close as you'll get to full organic without spending much time.

a good strong full organic soil is "roots organic" and black gold not sure if you can get those over in the uk.

you don't have to make a giant mix. Just break it down. I'm in a condo. So I can't do large piles either. I just mix 2 cu ft at a time in rubbermaids. It will take at most 30 min just to mix 2 cu ft.

But do they sell the amendments in small weights. The smallest ice seen is three lbs.

if he is only growing one plant and decides to go back to hydro it would be a waste to have lbs ofall these ddifferent amendments

its simply not the same.
Like saying you want to try Italian food for the first time, and end up getting Pizza Hut... yeah it's Italian....but...
Roots is going to get it's ass kicked 6 days a week and twice on sundays with my made-soil. Most anyones made soil
It's different.
And holy crap man, making enough organic soil for one plant would take you like an hour.
the aging of the soil is where the patience comes in.

Where are you getting the amendments from?

I know it won't be as good as a custom made tailored super soil like you guys would make but I just want to be able to get some more natural flavours out of my favourite strain, not really bothered about yield. I'm only planning to grow one plant but all the ingredients I'm seeing are available only in large quantities. Plus it's gonna take two months to bake and I'm good to go now, maybe start a seed in shop bought soil now and meanwhile I can start knocking some of my own up.
Is there any particular type of commercially grown plant that has similar soil needs to marijuana. That way I could try and find an organic farm for said plant and possibly buy some soil from them.
Once again I know it won't measure up to what you're doing but I reckon if I do it with some organic soil and organic soil only, then what I get has to be better for me than using a none organic soil and additives.

Promix and amendments is ur best bet using amendments.
Gotta let it sit for months and make sure u have a thermometer and make sure its stays in the target range to properly activate the mix. Not doing so will lead to nothing but problems. Everyone these days is on this super soil kick i dint like it at all personally but to each his own.

I find using striaght peat/coco mix with omri certified organic nutrients give u far better control of your plants and way better results and the ability to change and alter your rhizosphere and media as needed throughout your grow, and u dont have to ph ur water because the bacteria and fungi do that for u via waste production and eating.bol

Fox farm nutrients are mostly organic partially synethetic similar to botanicare pure blend but not as good qaulity IMO. I got a buddy who uses fox farm actually a couple of my boys use it w very very good results. In fact sometimes there shit comes out better than mine using the good old fox farm and ocean forest/promix blend mediums. I find that since fox far is partially organic/synethetic u get the smells and aromas and the yield u want since its partially synthetic without sacrificing alot on either end. Gives u both quality and yield we all strive for. And believe it or not for the price i would agree that if money is an issue its well worth the price. Ive found that for a few bucks more botanicare is that much better but not by a whole lot. I will guarantee that the smells and aromas from fox farm are second to none, providing nice white neon green flowers and doesnt stain your roots like many other products will. It really isnt a bad overall nutrient to use.

Im on an organic kick right now and i dont think ill ever go back to synthetics because im getting very good results using both the GH GENERAL Organics and BIO-canna nutrients. Omri certified organics is what u want to get natures nectar, GH general organics and technaflora products, I got really great recipe if anyone wants PM and u wont be disappointed and i love to help anyone who needs it.
