hydro seems like its not worth the effort.

well idk guys for say a pound yeild on a hydro setup or a three quarter pound yeild using soil. it takes my ro machine a day to make one hundred gallons of water, 24 hours. plus washing everything with ro water then disposing of water every ten days or so mixing more nutes in three resz the damn res temp and humidity along with all the damn pumps and airstones and wort chiller coming out the top of the res i can go on and on. i think i would rather go soil and be able to just leave it alone. but then again it is pleasure most of the time im in my grow room but those times when i just dont feel like it i sure miss dirt.

lol wtf. hydro is only that complicated if you make it that way. and for the record it should never be that complicated as complicated systems tend to be unreliable and not to mention take the fun out of hydro. keep it simple

mine is more like mix a batch of nutes once a week (2.5gal) set and forget, ph buffers in the nutes do all the work with ph most of the time. add a little water back if needed. simple. i only clean my single res once at the start of a new grow and thats it.

Sounds like you just need to get your GED first, before you try more complicated things in life.

Yo fuck ebb n flood your floor system lol. I use rockwool top feed to a 8 gal cement mxing tub from lowes cost $6.97 + tax here's some pics

And here's a recent pic of the 16 gal cement mixing pans top feed drip no tent tho

I've used the ebb n grow and all it did was flood my floors when the controller had an issue(float sensor gets stuck).

I have the same set up just wondering in the beggining how often do you have the drips running i know once the girls get big 24hr they will drip but seedlings and veg whats your timer set too?

I myself am still hanging on the fence. I have ran hydro and organic soil. I really like the taste and smell that the organic soil puts out but I also like the hydro. Im putting together some DWC tubes as we speak, and going to give them a run. The only thing I can say i dont like about each is..... hydro always haveing to run gallons of water up and down the stairs.... which I could fix with an adapter and a hose downstairs to fill the rez, also Dont like haveing to switch out and top off the rez all the time exspecially when the plants get big and start to uptake 1-2 gallons of water a day. As for soil..... it can get mess and having to setup a pan/drain system to catch all the runoff. Like stated above the both have their perks. So like some I run both!!!!!!!!!!!! happy growing. Has for the OP question I really can awnser it for you. To tell you the truth when I first started growing I was a ph freak but these days I dont even ph my water and/nutes and havent had any problems...... maybe just luck of the draw!!

Go soilless, like perlite hempy buckets. The ease of soil (even easier, really) and at least 20-25% of the increased yield of hydro. Explosive growth out of hempy buckets compared to soil. I did my first 2 grows in soil then ran 100% perlite hempy buckets for 6 years. I would have liked to try DWC but my temps wouldn't allow for it. I would have got root rot / pythium for sure. I want to try DWC one of these days but I'm going to experiment with coco in smartpots with blumats next as I will prob end up using something like that or hempy buckets for moms even if I do go DWC for flowers.

soil all the way everyday. the main reason is because i can get baked and fuck up a batch of nute water and by the time i sober up the next day and see the almost fatal error...in soil it can still be fixed, easily. in hydro, u dont get that luxary. 9 times out of 10, if u make a big mistake...shit, even just a little mistake, u can loose everything before u even know what the eff happened. after a couple years of running hydro..both ebb n flow and flood trays(which are the better of the two systems imo)..i was so happy to switch back to soil. much better bud as far as quality wise too imo.

i've grown both. i'll give you my experiences.

Soil:
buy soil (miraclegro with 3 months of plant food mixed in)
buy pot
germinate seed
plant seed
water plant
harvest weed
if you forget to water once every 2 weeks the plants die

Hydro(flood and drain):
buy rubbermaid containers
buy rockwool
buy net pots
buy hydroton
buy nutrients
buy water pump and plastic tubing
buy flood and drain adapters
germinate seed
plant seed in hydroton
mix nutrients to correct ppm
check and adjust pH daily
add hydrogen peroxide daily
(optional step of creating your own microrganism tea to stave off algae and root rot every week)
clean reservoir and mix nutrients weekly
harvest weed
if you don't keep up on reservoir maintenance at least three times a week, the plants die
if you use too much nutrients, the plants die
if your power or water pump goes out, the plants die

WOW! LOL! Golden Rule:Mix/ph your nutes clean, cold and sober, then smoke a spliff while room temp sets in.

"Did I put 8 ml's of what's it in this jug allready?"......yep a ph check solved my mystery, and I was folowing the Golden Rule.
WEEEE HOOOO!

Well said and so many think hydro yields more which really isn't the case any more comparing hydro to soil plant per plant everyone stuffing them in a tray flowering like 60 plants @ 6" lol
Even the huge commercial grow op's you know the ones that you see on the news ??? every now and then are soil grown

I don't have that problem, but I guess if you're prone to fucking shit up then hydro might not be for you.

its all fun but i know of damn near seven grand spent on a super setup consisting of three tents two top of the line controllers two co2 regulators and tanks a one hp water chiller built two manifolds to cool three resz and three iceboxes and it may get easier once we get it down and could produce major hydro but i just think it would be more efficient to use soil. bottom line dirt is way cheaper and lots easier to maintain.

also, every hydroponic vegetable i have ever tried has always had a flavor that paled in comparison to their counterparts grown in soil. they are always bigger, but they are never better. tomatoes are an excellent example of this.

i am going to continue with the ebb and flow for now but if t dont level out and get easier i may switch back to soil
