hey,
anyone know if you can connect a hydrofarm blower/fan to a household wall mpunted fan dimmer?

so it would be the fan-to the dimmer- to the three prong wall plug

thanx

I'll be trying something similar to this tomorrow. I bought a 1000watt dimmer that I'm going to try and use to control a heat source. Don't see any reason why it shouldn't work. The heat source has a plug end, so I will have a receptacle running off the dimmer. I'll let you know if it doesn't work. AlBFuct would know the answer if you can catch him, and there are a few electrician around. Maybe one of them will see this and straigten us both out. VV

you can connect a blower/fan to a dimmer. I just actually wired one up. I asume your talking either a slide dimmer or one of those round button dimmers. You'll need:
1. Dimmer switch
2. standered wall socket
3. about 2 feet of electrical wire rated for 15-20 amps
4. a plug to atach to the wire
5. one of those boxes to put it into.

you can buy all of this at home depot for around $30. wire it up according to the directions and you'll have your self a fan adjustment box. I'll have to post some pictures of mine later. hope this helps

You can buy a "router" speed controller (rheastat) at Harbor Freight for about $20-25 that is made specifically for this type of thing.

good luck
