man your asking alot, but to be short about it 1- yes a first time grower can do it. 2- dont try it without doing alot of reading.3- better growth but more time taking care of them.4-plants in hydro grow faster (this doesnt mean they will mature faster)a plant in soil wont be as big as a plant grown in hydro 5-getting started depends on how much you have to spend, what type of hydro method you chose to grow with, thats where the reading comes in. 6 its only worth it if you want it to be many people grow in soil and are happy with it,I have plants in soil in my flower room alonge with hydro plants, its easyer to keep an even canopy with soil.7- many herbs are grown in hydro and veggies most tomatoes are grown in hydro.8- if you want an easy grow then soil is it,its way cheaper and less time taking care of them.some say that soil grown weed taste better,im not so sure on that,I think my hydro smoke taste better than my soil smoke, just my opinion. so my best advice is to read read and read some more before you go hydro, its costly in the begining because of all the differant things you will need a ph meter,a ppm meter ph up ph down nutes a hydro system most build there own to save money but either way its a decent chunk of change to get started. hope this helps and good luck

It's going to be work no matter how you decide to grow . If you are going to be lazy about it , just buy a bag . I mean , if you not going to put nothing into your grow , why grow ?

i never said i was not willing or so lazy to put any work for anything i just meant to say if i can grow the same amount with soil & less work why would i do hydro & work harder for the same results ?

hydro can give you a larger yield per plant vs. soil, but its really tricky and you have no room for error, where soil you can mess it up really bad and still flush and have good product.
If you get some clones and go hydro you can have 3-4 harvests every year of 12 plants (medically allowed in Michigan), I harvest 6 plants every other month with a perpetual grow.

Soil is cool but it takes so much longer but the flavor is a tad bit better.

^^ thats my new system for my WW mother. under $50 form Lowes including the pump.

Hydro's way easier than dirt and cheaper in the long run. Once you have your timers set and the op wired and plumbed and read all of my posts anyone of average intelligence or higher should have no problem with cloning and F&D. You can grow any strain you like in F&D systems. You pretty much only have to be there to do the pleasent things about gardening and your water changes. The person would need a basic understanding of electrical and some other trades.

hydro way easier then dirt, that is hilarious. put plant it dirt and give water, can't get easier then that.
anyways, hydro for cash, pump it full of chemicals like chickens, to make it fatter faster, lose taste and quality
soil for stash, if it's for your personal use, soil will produce the best stuff.
ANYONE who says otherwise,I will put my supersoil grown against your hydro grown, anyday

I have 5 girls half way thru flower and they are amazing, just mixed up 2 more trashcans full, as I will only grow that way.
I have them in 5 gal containers and they vegged for a extra long time,so I could sex them and then clone them, I just topdressed them and they really took off again after a little drink.
