I used to use an air pump running into a jar of water in my fruiting chamber. It pumped fresh air in and the water was supposed to filter out contaminants. This forces fresh air exchange on the chamber so you don't have to open it as often.

Did you put some sort of antibiotic in the water?

Nope I feel like I changed it a few times, but it never looked or smelled weird, or got cloudy or anything. But it bubbled all the air coming into the chamber. Then I had filter patches on the chamber to allow air to be pushed back out. Was it ideal, I have no idea, just what was suggested by someone at the time, and it seemed to work.
