Hygrozyme KILL or FEED pythium?

I have a problem with my systems, and I think it is pythium.

I have been trying to treat with H202, but it has not been working.

I have been told two very contridicting things about hygrozyme and pythium.

I was told DO NOT use hygrozyme if any problems are present, as the enzyme will feed the pythium, etc. and the problem will run wild.

I was also told to use hygrozyme specifically to kill the pythium. I was told, it would get worse before getting better, but that it would ultimitaly KILL the pythium.

I want to get a general concensus before making a move.

thanks

i need to know who exactly told you hygrozyme feeds pythium? like i said in the other thread, if the roots are infected, not only will the pythium be gobbled up, but the infected roots aswell, but hzyme also encourages amazing root growth. when i said getting worse before getting better, it only apears like this because the dissolving dying roots look nasty, if you have root issues then this is what you want to see, the hygrozyme is in action and dissolving those disease spreading roots, you dont have to take my word for it, everyone i recommended this stuff to loved it, truly a crop saver

change out the rez daily for 5 days and no more problems, people who just add it to the rez thinking all will be well are the ones who bash it, god knows what the rez looks like after a week of dissolving brown roots looks like, looks like diahrea

While the consensus was good things about hygrozyme, a few posters noted about it making the water worse, but when I take into account what you said, it makes sense about having to do the water changes.

I just went down to my shop and got a liter of it to try out.

When I do the water changes, do I have to bleach all my equipment everytime or just at the end of the 5 days?
Also do I have to fill up the tray and res with bleach water or can I just scrub them down?

Thanks for all your help,

i wouldnt recommend bleach, for it leaves a harsh residue, h2o2 is very safe especially the over the counter 3%, if i cant take apart my system i pull out the plants and spray down the system and rinse, whatever your system is run it through with water, after a decent cleaning with h2o2, i give a fresh rez everyday with hygrozyme. i just currently got root rot for being lazy and had the lid let light in, and 3 days in i have new roots starting to overwhelm the brown ones. as for your tray (i use a spray bottle) spread it around and rinse, you should hear the fizzing sound. i understand its not an easy thing to do if you have plants in a tray, but if you can put them somewhere else for a little while and run your system as normal with water and h2o2, you can Pm me anytime if you need more help

about your tray, i run a try for mother with a drip system, now for the sake of not having the roots dry up and exposed to light, i gave the tray a bed of hydroton, your roots will grow out of the pots and you should cover the tray somehow, i know many people on here dont cover the tray since they pack if with plants, i like the clay at the bottom so it holds some mousture and i dont want algea biulding up, remember all the nasty need light to live, so keep your roots in the dark

hey Morris, I had the same thing happen to my res but with Sesizym from AN. Should I flush weekly like usual or should I do it every 5 days?
thanks!
