Hypothetically how much energy usage is too much?

I'm just thinking I know energy companies monitor loads of people, but they could easily highlight suspected marijuana growers should they want to. I was thinking that things like hot tubs use a lot of energy so that could account for some. But would 600w put you over the bracket of average home owner? I think so. Considerable enough to warrant suspicion would be like... 2 x 1000w? 3x?

A 600w would not register on an electric companies radar, especially if you pay your bills on time. I believe the rule of thumb is 1kw/bedroom before you are over the average consumption.

What scares me is that electric companies where i am monitor usage on an hourly basis so it is very very easy for them to pick out a light running 12/12 every day. However if a grower pays thier bills they are the electric companies best customer, why would they want to bust them?

true.. true, true. were there money makers, and think of the risk of your local police department putting a warrant out on a house for high elcty bill, and they kick down the door only to find...... a man with a hobby thats completly legal, law suit like a mother fucker. and they dont risk that shit. keep odors under controll, keep your mouth shut pay your bills, and you will be fine,
