I am getting ready to give my tap water a go with a singlw dwc bucket, my tap water is on the hard side 200-300ppm. I am planning on using gh nutrient but gonna use the micro they make for hard water. I did one 5gal dwc and had no ro system and was buying water by the 5 gallon for about 3 months...lol...it was def worth it but a pita

Chlorine is not only "ok" for plants its actually part of the plants needs, your tap water is just fine for almost all aspects of growing with the samll exception of cloning in it (in which case its pretty simple to get 1 gallon of ro/distilled water for the task)

*this does not mean be stupid and add a ton of bleach or chlorine to your chit

Reverse osmosis water is not nearly as good quality as people think. I don't know what marketing magic they used to make people think of it as the end all of water purification but it isn't.

It often Doesn't remove chemical compounds who's molecular structure is smaller than water molecules. Many pesticides and common herbacides fit this description.

It takes also strips micro minerals that nutrient producers assume will be present without additives.

Will not remove biologicals smaller than water molecules

It is a power hog system that requires much more waste water than it produces.

Berkey filters remove 99% of biologicals
Dissolved solids to below detectable levels.
And chemical filters remove herbacides.
Waste no water
Are gravity fed requiring no power.
Are cheaper to own, operate and maintain.
