I cant figure out whats wrong with my plants ?

I planted these about 3 weeks ago. i have em under a 400 watt hps. i think maybe the problem is that they were too close to the light and it was burning them/ drying out the soil. it seems like i had to water them everyday because the soil was so dry. since i took the pictures i moved them farther from the light. does anybody have any ideas? thanks

yes it does. You must keep the young ones moist until they develop some real roots.

yeah thats what i suspectedj. i moved the light a little farther away and finally got one of those moisture meters, which told me that im waaaaay too stingy with the water lol. should i maintain the moisture level at about 1/2 way on the meter?
p.s. do they seem really small for being almost 4 weeks old? i have to have them done by early september so i think i need to start flowering soon, but theyre just sooo small

Damn, they're 4 weeks old in the pics you posted?

This is one of my babies which isn't a month old yet:

I'm not an expert, this is my first grow, but by the size of my plants at the moment, I'd say your's are quite small for a month old.

Perhaps it's the heat making them grow so slowly?

damn that looks nice. im not exactly sure about their age, 3 weeks being the youngest possible, 4 being the oldest possible. either way theyre puny. oh well, they seemed to come back to life today after not growing much for about a week. hopefully i can flower them soon and have some buds before i go back to college in september

Looks like it's time to make a change in that pot size.

just out of curiousity,what cycle are you using? 24/0 or 18/6???
