I read somewhere that keeping your plants in total darkness for 48 to 72 hours before harvest increases potency. The problem is I can't remember where i read it and if it's BS:blsmoke: or not please help before I do something stupid. Thank you.

Yea, will increase resin production in allot of strains when you put them in the dark beyond 48 hours before harvest.

first, if it's in print i would love to see it or be linked to it. i read books and books and books. all i ever saw was reduction of light not elimination of light hastens ripening. and i'm pretty sure i read on here somewhere that the resins that the plant makes are a response to light and so since we want those resins why would you reduce the amount of light to zero? i don't get it.

I would like to know more about this also. I have read it in a few different places, have never tried it first hand. I know on some strain descriptions it has stated to do that, may just be a marketing thing, never can tell.
My simple understanding is that the plant has enough stored energy to keep growing for about 48 hours once the light is off, and light degrades THC so the additional darkness would let the p[lant produce without any degrading, have only read this and not tried it.

Gonna sub this would like to learn more about it.

I'm a bit scheptical myself and before I go with something like this I want to hear the theory behind it so I can make up my mind on the sub

@ak...I also read that. heat degrades THC also. But if you think about nature the light plants receive in autumn is weak. So I just don't know. Ima pull a plant from my current grow and do a side by side. It's only one plant. I'm not going to be able to send it out for analysis but I can do a smoke test. Event if it smokes a little smoother it's worth it. We'll see. I always say...show me the data but I dont think I'll ever see any. Just rumor and wives tales. But who knows....I won't bash anyone who does it. How much harm can it really cause?

Page 84 step 3 in Jorge's bible states that many growers believe that twenty four hours of total darkness before harvest increases resin content.
