I got a love letter...or maybe something worse

Two days ago I received a love letter from Customs & Border Protection, from what I've read/heard from many others on the web I should ignore it and do nothing. However this letter seems to be a bit different; it states that if I choose to do no action within 30 days that legal action will take place. I have option (A) of signing a No Accountability Agreement and mailing it back or (B) to pay a fine of about $250 or a bond amount of $5,000. Now normally I wouldn't be stressed but the fact they say they WILL be taking action if I do not reply worries me immensely. Does every love letter say the same thing or is this a bit more serious? I do NOT want to reply in anyway because I have no idea what they are talking about but apparently I have no choice. All advice is greatly appreciated.

My first thought is, was it registered or certified?
If not, ignore it.
IF, and I say IF, it happened to be a real letter, not a scam or something, it's up to the sender to prove the letter was received, not your problem to say "I never got it, don't know anything about what you're talking about".

Do you mean was the Customs letter registered/certified or was the package they claim I ordered registered/certified. I did not have to sign for the customs letter or anything so I guess I could act as if it never came BUT like the letter says 'Legal recourse will be taken if I do not reply in 30 days'.

Correct... now roll one and relax lol
Believe me I'd LOVE too at the moment, but I do not have any sweet ganj and my mother happens to be a legal secretary so she's making it seem a little more serious. She thinks I should sign and send back the 'No Accountability Agreement'. Somehow I think that even if I sign such document that I can and will be held accountable....

There has to be service for legal action in this case. Without your signature or the signature of witnesses as you received it (how officer's of the court can serve you), you can either sign and send back the letter of no accountability or toss it.

Believe me if 'they' want you 'they' won't send you a letter first LOL. Oh and you might want to tell the legal secretary this is above her pay grade ;)

If that were my letter it would be shredded, burned and buried :) or tossed with the kitty litter.

Yes I understand it should be dealt with by a lawyer not my mother the legal secretary but I was saying that because she has many lawyer friends and does know a thing or two about the legal system. As for what I ordered....I didn't order anything. They are claiming I ordered 400x banana clonotril aka clonazepam. Yes those are considered benzodiazepines.

Sorry, ya, I meant the letter.
Myself man, I wouldn't worry.
First, even IF like I say, it's not a scam just trying to get money, they would have to first even prove you got the letter, which since you didn't have to sign for it, they cannot.
Second, who is to say you even ordered something?
What would happen if I picked a number out of the phone book, and tried to send a key of coke to somebody I didn't even know?
If it was intercepted, they would get the sender's info, and let the package continue, and catch the receiver when he accepted the package.
Then they would go after the sender.
My suggestion, like others said, go roll one and burn the letter.

Thanks for the help really, you and everyone else. I think I'm gonna go buy some weed and do as you guys say I should. One thing I can't get passed though is why they say they will take action if I don't reply. I don't want to ignore it and then have to deal with some legal bullshit down the road and just continue to play dumb that no letter was received. I'm 50/50 on this No Accountability Agreement

I was NOT saying this needed dealt with by a lawyer. You just toss it. If they choose to follow up (and I would be very surprised if they did), you simply say you didn't order anything.

Remember in the US unless they invoke the 'Patriot Act' and all it's evil siblings you are innocent in this venue unless proven guilty and that is the prosecutions point to make. If you think I would HAND THEM MY SIGNATURE you are not thinking clearly. Take a moment and calm down. These are strong arm tactics nothing else. If these aren't yours stop acting as if you have "consciousness of guilt".

Because let me tell you THAT will nail you in the ass everytime. If you aren't familiar with that in criminal law ask your mom. BTW I too know a thing or three about the US legal system. You are over thinking this.

Somebody is just trying to scare ya.
If you don't sign anything and send back, then you can always play dumb........
"I didn't get a letter, and no, I didn't order anything"
I'm assuming you were worried because you did order something, is that correct?
EDIT: Sorry, I just went back and saw your post about the pills.
No, FUCK THEM.
You obviously didn't order that shit, so don't worry.

Chill the fuck out. I got the same exact letter. Tossed it. That was 3 years ago and nothing happened.

Get high, move on.

Think about it man, you're not using, you're not distributing, and you obviously didn't even order them, if they had proof of ANY sort that whatever they're talking about, (Who knows if there is even a real package), do you really think if they were going to try and pin something legal on you, they would give you 2 diff. money options and a no money option in some corny letter?
Did you Google the address you were given to send the 'payment' or form to?
I'll bet you it's bogus.

Nothing I'm willing ....snip.......
If you are really, deeply, worried then get clean now and delete that ^^^^^^^ post. If you have that in your system and they do come looking it's circumstantial but that is a problem if you couple it with some consciousness of guilt type behavior and some other reasons they might look at you.

Think of the sheer numbers ordering online? They can not catch everyone nor can they follow up. Sheesh much of our gubmint is on furlough so no I would not worry. But YOU know your life so you have to make that decision yourself.
