I guess this is kind of like bugs...but suddenly a problem has struck my garden..

Freaking mice or chipmunks are digging down in my plants are trying to make nests or something under my main roots...WTF??? So I grow plants indoors and get mice? Anyway I have heard that mice don't like sand...so I have covered everything in sand...hopefully this will deter them...something about how they don't like to dig in sand because they feel like it will cave in on them or something...and I got some mouse traps...glue and snap...can't let the cats in with the plants, because while the mice are destroying the roots the cats destroy the leaves...all the plants seem to be doing alright, but I had to harvest a big plant a couple of weeks early because whatever is digging tunnels in my indoor garden had literally ripped all the roots out and the poor plant was just leaned over...they had stuffed a bunch of leaves and paper down in the pot under the main rootball...you couldn't see it from the top...but you will see a hole, and then a bunch of soil on the floor...at first it was just the bottoms of the pot...So I started putting this super hard clay like manure compost in the bottom of all the pots to plug the holes, because water can pass through it, it isn't bad for the plants, and when it dries and hardens whatever is digging out the bottoms of the pots can't seem to get through it...so they started going down through the tops...anyway it is bullshit, and if anyone else has any ideas on how to stop this it would be great...something other than cats, traps, or sand...

What you see when you look at my plants first thing in the morning are hills of soil all around the bottom of the tent, and usually 2 quarter sized holes on either side of the pot...I assume they go in one and out the other...but in the middle of the tunnel right under the plants is where the little bastards are trying to get cozy...

Put in a couple of rat traps, i think its rats. have you got a CO2 tank? bump it up and leave the room , this will end the rodent issues and will actually help the plants.

Can't be rats...these holes and nests they make under the plants are tiny..the holes are a little less than the size of a quarter, and the large inner dug out parts are like the size of my fist, and I wear a size 5 ring...so tiny hands...and rats would have no way to get into the tent that I wouldn't notice a large ripped out chunk of tent...so it has to be small enough to wedge in between zippers, or along the ducting, but able to fit between the fan blades on a 6 in inline fan...and they have to be small enough to fit through the dime sized holes in the sides of my pots...lol.

oooohhhh I found a thing that says if you have a really really tall jar you can put a little peanut butter in the bottom and the mice will climb in to get the PB and get stuck cuz they can't get out...Unless of course they just step in the peanut butter which would make their feet sticky enough to escape I bet I bet...lol. Wily little sons of bitches...going to put some form of bait in a jar tonight before bed though...so we might just catch the perpetrator of these crimes against Cannabis...

And I don't have CO2...and nothing is really sealed enough to use it anyway..No need to spend the money I like what I have going now...I would love to kill whatever is treating my plant's root ball like a Fucking HOtel!

My grandma used to put the plant getting dug into over a midsize trashcan...then in the morning the offending chipmunk would be in the trashcan...and you know I never wondered how these chipmunks were getting in the house or why...but all through spring and again through fall...perhaps they were coming down the chimney....I mean I doubt they were just wandering through an open door or something...hmmmm.....? that wouldn't work in my garden though...I have lower height limits...If I put the pot on top of a trash can it will be too tall...hmmm....?

That is a good idea...but for an update after the night with the traps and sand and all that...well the sand kept whatever it is from digging through the tops of the pots...I think I am going to take everything out of my tent and fill the bottoms with sand...since the sand does seem to deter whatever it is...perhaps if the pots are sitting in the sand they will leave the bottom of the pots alone...and I think I am going to use some hardware screen and make like a holder with it around the bottom of every pot...so there is mesh over the drainage holes...so we'll see how that goes...

All traps turned up empty though...the jar, the snap trap and glue traps...so no good with the trapping...lol
