You can switch to 12/12 anytime during a grow, including from the start. The longer you veg, the larger the plant and thus yield. Plant can double or more in height when flowering so make sure you have the space.

ah okay, and how long will my plant be flowering? and when does the bud get produced? and how long does all that take? (sorry for these questions)

You'll have a LOT better chance of getting something worth smoking if you do a little reading. Start with a great growing tutorial by an expert on this site in the first link in my signature. Welcome and good growing.
