I have been growing for 4 years, but still would like some tips on indoor :).

Hey guys! Thanks for taking time and stopping by this thread. Im a Iraq war vet and Cannabis patient in NM. I have been growing my own for four years, but Im a very seasoned outdoor grower and still growing up with my indoor skills. Right now I am running a 400w HPS system with a four light fluorescent on the back side for extra light penetration on the sides. I am growing skishaberry, sublime (clone from ABQ), and DGK, which was gifted to me from a friend. I have a 4x4 grow tent which is working perfectly. My question is when you switch to flower what do you guys use as a bloom booster, or maybe even an organic blood booster. Any other tips are welcome as well :). I am nothing close to a master grower but I can hold my own in my backyard lol. e

hello fellow
welcome to the site, like your setup
when i turn over to flower 12/12 it often takes the plants 3 weeks + to start flowering
so in effect your still in veg and the plant should still have grow nutes for the first 3 weeks of flower
after that you want to start reducing the grow nutes and increasing the bloom nutes


i use bio buzz fishmix (grow nutes ) and bio bloom ( bloom nutes )

Thank you for responding :). That was very helpful thank you, I was wondering when I should stop with nitrogen. I was just going to do it next flowering but, that makes more sense. I actually bought beastie bloomz and the guy at the shop just gave me a small bottle of Dyna-gro Bloom for free. Have you used or heard of these two? Ive heard dyna-gro ive just never used their product.

sorry fellow never used foxfarm nutes or dyna-gro but beastie bloomz (foxfarm)has been around for years and lots growers say foxfarm nutes are really good

Floros with HPS ...nah the flouro don't reach, no penetration,

6 inches below the tube is best, imo upgrade to a 600w

I like to flush when I flip to 12x12, pour 3 times the volume of the pot

with ph neutral air temp water, allow over night to drain,

then feed 50% diluted bud nutes in the morning

you gotta tell us why you moved indoors, growing in NM is interesting maybe like Australia

To Hot..? if so consider growing at night in doors with AC and cool lights like the Aussies..?

I moved indoors for the winter, its very arid but new Mexico is a high desert so it gets cold. We actually just had six inches of snow the day after Xmas. I never not do outdoor though, especially here. It doesn't reach the 120-130s. 110 -113 happens all the time though. I've found sishkaberry is very very heat tolerant. 110 degrees and it was loving it.

Proper watering is key, lol

If the florescent lights are placed within a few inches of the canopy they'd be helpful. A ring of shop lights around the tent at canopy level would be awesome, and would fit in a 4 x 4' tent nice n snug. These would give you the opportunity to augment your spectrum to make up for the HPS' deficiencies. In this case, go with half and half 6500k and 10% UVB tubes, the frost would be intense!

While @vostok's suggestion of a simple upgrade to 600W is the most straightforward approach, I think in this case your willingness to augment your lighting with shop lights and keep them close to the plants can provide valuable dividends.

You'll definitely get an education in lighting while you're at it, and you did mention that as a goal... :bigjoint:

the addition of 6500k and UV is highly debatable

Grunt is Grunt in any language splitting hairs I leave for hares

I use both methods constantly and the one thing I miss indoors........ is Grunt..!

400w HPS in a 4x4 tent is standard, anything you add on that

can be seen as a bonus

just make it worth your effort, time and expense

personally i think you should ditch the fluros and get a 600w or 1000, i run a 1000 in my 4x4 with no probs, just get a decent exhaust fan, min 6inch

This is another standard combo, but it only yields well if everything's on point. It's very hot so there's less margin for error.

Interesting. Those two shop lights across the back are much like what I had in mind, only use just one on each side of the tent and go all the way around. It does create a problem with access for working your plants. Perhaps if the one across the doorway would tilt up and out of the way? I'm just brainstorming here.

If those aren't in bloom yet, you're late! That canopy is full!

There is no doubt he knows what he's doing, but there's no magic to his lighting. Most people half ass their T5 arrays because it's usually just for veg, but he's been proving for years that careful bulb selection, regular replacement and attention to detail throughout the grow do produce spectacular results.

How many people do you know run a sealed room with Co2 supplementation under T5 florescent lighting?

You know, T5 lighting is still a better UVB source than COB LED.

and there are others that have replicated what I do with T5's RockyMountainMan comes to mind

I remember a mention of carbon dioxide stirring fans, and made an assumption, sorry. I haven't seen his setup.

well its one huge shop light, so i have no choice but to use the four. My sisters bf gave it to me and I spliced it to plug into the wall. I put them in flower on the 31st, I had thinned them out so i wanted them to fill out some more before flipping the switch. Ill admit I did wait too long because I was out of town for the new years. Two days and they got massive, I forget how fast they grow at times lol.
