I have recently been using the Digilux line and m liking them so far. If you run electronic ballasts I recommend them. I cannot say how they would perform with a magnetic ballasts. Probably ok though. The only way to grow real bud is to grow in supersoil, use the entire AN lineup at full strength on top of that, defoliate atleast twice, and finish it up with a 2 week flush. Scientifically prooven to double yields in half the time. Thats what the real growers do. Just kidding Chuck, I need a new 600 hps bulb, anything new and exciting comin out? You cali boys seem to hear about the new stuff first. What was this thread about again?
All you left on the branches is the apical growth for the most part. You stripped the lower growth. Your pictures only prove the fact the the apical growth is dominant. That's a pic from day 31 of flower smartass.
Here's one from day 47
Day 50
Day 60
Pre chop on one plant
Day 65
Sure I could have left even more lower branches, but that's hardly what I would call "lollipopping".
It was also my first vert grow so yes, mistakes were made.
If you want to see real vert grows that use defoliation and have solid bud growth from top to bottom,go view any grows by Bobblehead,Mister D,and quite a few others on ICmag.
My buds however came out all dense,no larf.
Proof is in the pictures.
I must have VERY confused plants as I have both lights on a light-mover. Just because there's a presence of a secondary light-source it doesn't mean that the second light takes away anything from the first light....it just adds to it.Mixed spectrum is ok but you should never let the mix overpower the red HPS. The red color is very important in some strains to get the maximum achieved results you want. Plants want you to simulate autumn which is that deep orange colored HPS light. Make sure you don't overpower it and confuse the plant into thinking it's July or worse yet April by having too much blue light. You will not get the same yield / growth however it may be a tad bit more potent. Possibly unnoticeable..
Come on everyone, let's jump on Lilroach's idea and blow it out of the water with no idea if it works or not! I've never tried that so it can't possibly work!! You don't need all that light, just a candle and some hormones will give the same results as you're getting now!! lol
That's how this forum thing works on new ideas isn't it?
On a more serious note though may I ask a couple of questions? Nice looking plant by the way! I'm open to new ideas and techniques, and believe they should be supported.
With your plants did you just add in the 400w MH lamp, or were you running 1000w in HPS before? What I'm trying to ask is did you run a 400w and 600w HPS before but just change the 400w to a MH bulb, or did you just have a 600w HPS on it's own before?
Also in your pictures you appear to have supplemental CFL lighting around the middle and lower plant, do you use that during flowering and if so what combination of blue/red do you use?
you can still get them. I run one for my veg. I know of a few places that still have them. Its just a shame Phillips discontinued their CMH line. If they would have marketed them as a horticultural bulb IMO they would still be around.
I have a couple of new ones on hand. For right now I am going to stick with the Digilux MH from start too finish. Yeah I am sacrificing a bit of bulk. But the resin production, flavor and potency increase are worth it. I have gotten little brothers Querkle Rain to F-5 and its very stable and homogeneous now. Only 2 distinct pheno types. This go around both phenos will get pollinated by my favorite Black Widow male. Hoping to add a bit of bulk to them now. I will spread the beans around at the other site when they are ready Chuck.you can still get them. I run one for my veg. I know of a few places that still have them.
iv run the Digilux hps but didnt get any better results than I did from a no name 29.95 I ran previously. I was interested in trying their MH until Chuck told me they got bought out. Im runnin a Digilux hps now but need a new one, this ones got a few runs on it. May try an ushio. Any opinionsI have recently been using the Digilux line and m liking them so far. Edit; Just looked and it looks like hydrofarm is continuing the digilux line. so maybe they improved them?not to barge in but this is timely; I'm vacillating between Digilux and Ushio 600's .... anybody got opinions or experiences with either or both?
Yeah I know theyre continuing them but will they be the same, better, or worse, I dont wanna find out yet, iv never run an ushio but iv read a lot of good shit about em, the ushio 600 says its puttin out 97000 lumens I think, I know numbers dont mean everything but it sounds good anywaysEdit; Just looked and it looks like hydrofarm is continuing the digilux line. so maybe they improved them?
