i have four outdoor plants growing.. need help!

okay so this was my first grow.. i gave it wicked good care. germination went good. then put them in yogurt cups then when they got to big i switched all 4 of them into one big bin with good soil, around the walls i put aluminum to absorb and reflect the sunlight thats been taken in.. i started late july and it is now early november. i started to see flower around september and i can NOT bring these indoors because of the conditions of my house. they are getting direct sunlight throughout the whole day, strong survivors, and taken good care of. first frost came a while ago but didnt knock them out.. i need some advice WHEN WILL THEY BE DONE TO PICK??? WILL THE TRICHNOMES BE READY BEFORE DECEMBER? (living in northeast US) i attached 3 pics from today please help me and tell me when they will be done all i want is a guesstimate. like wait 2 weeks for example or what?

you have to be alot more descriptive, what size "bin"? and did you put all of them (how many) into a single container?

you put aluminum on the walls? are they surronded by a fence, plants growing outside in direct sunlight get all the light they could ever desire, and as far as finishing, if they were started in july then its just a waiting game, most indica's need atleast 7-8 wks to finish and some sativa's can take their sweet time up to 4 months and from what i can tell your little girl looks to be atleast sativa dominant....so 10 week minimum from whenever you first noticed pistils, the longer you can let it go the bigger the yield and the more potent the bud (to an extent, i doubt you could overdue it having started in july though)

the size of the container was 10 inches in width 13 in height 15 in length.. i did put aluminum around the inside walls facing the plants roots. and no i did not put a fence up around it. all the plants have bud and they have orange/purple hairs in them just it seems like for the time they have had to grow there isnt enough bud on it than it is supposed to.. i understand about waiting and dont pick them to early just im afraid what if it reaches december, wont it freeze them to death? i mean i CANT bring them indoors because of the conditions that im living under. is there a way to speed it up with like miracle grow or something? or should i just wait til they are about to die and pick them?

if you could take a picture of your setup it would probably be alot easier to advise you, pics focused on the tip of the flower dont show me much, and aluminum foil to reflect light toward the roots??? where did u read/hear to do that, not sure what positive affects that could have..

and bud on ur plants is only mildly relevant and means its a girl, ive been looking at bud on my sativa for the past 8 weeks and its still not done and may not ever get to finish as i put it outside to flower in early august, it has survived 1 frost with no ill effects, its not even in the ground, its in a 10 gal rubbermaid container both of which hurt when it comes to cold temps

after about the 6th week of flowering mine really started to swell, vertical growth has pretty much ceased and shes just gaining weight now, if u have a scope check the trichomes, some of the OG's on here say they can go strictly based on the hairs but i myself am not quite so savvy yet

im still confused on exactly how ur grow looks, do you have 1,2,4...how many plants, in a SINGLE container? why would u do this, u dont put 5 dogs in the same doghouse, they need space to be themselves

and if its at all possibly, wrapping the roots (container) with a blanket to insulate them will allow them to take colder temps yet and covering with something like a trashbag can keep the frost at bay (unless you are guerilla style then thats probably not possible)

and as for miracle grow, that's somewhat frowned upon by most in the cannaculture, there are some bloom boosters but u dont wanna add any nutes in the last few weeks prior to harvest as some say their taste comes through in the smoke, some blackstrap molasses will aid in the microbial activity in the soil but if you have 5 plants in the same pot then the soil microbes are the are prob one of the last things u should be concerned with

I read online that aluminum foil will reflect sunlight and give more warmth to the plants. i dont know if its true but it really doesnt harm it so why not do it. and ya ive just been relying on mother nature and it hasnt disappointed me yet i probably wont use any nutes from what ive been researching on it. I will add pics of the container, the space between the plants, and whole pictures of all the plants. also dont you think if i had a blanket around the container it would absorb the rain and when thats drenched and freezes it would be making the container even colder?

true enough but thats why i asked if it was a guerilla type grow, the blanket would be about as feasible as a bag to protect from frost, it wouldn't be a permanent fixture, just something to keep the roots warmer as that is what would ultimately kill the plant, the roots are like our brain

good luck and dont give up!

worst case scenario you'll have bud that didn't quite reach its full potential, but you'll be armed with this knowledge for next year and i felt like a rocket scientist during my 2nd grow as opposed to my first

heres some new pics of the bud, plants, and setup. i had two questions though. if you look at the plants leaves you can see some turned yellow and crisp does that mean the plants are dying? and if you look at the picture of the bud are those crystals or trichnomes if they are crystals then how do i look at the trichnomes with my scope?

dang man.....some more experienced growers would probably slay you for what you did, but im gonna take the high road, however for the record, a gallon per foot of plant is a good general rule, not sure how big that is, looks in the 5-7 gal range and you have what looks to be atleast 4 plants in it??? mistake mistake mistake sir

the leaves yellowing from the bottom up is more than likely just nature runnings its course as the plant gets closer to being done its pulling the last nutes it can out of the soil, in some cases shaded leaves will yellow as they are basically just solar panels for the plant and if they aren't getting light then the plant realizes they aren't needed

as for the aluminum foil, if that goes down in the container im not sure how roots would react to its composition...if it doesn't, its probably not affecting the roots any whatsoever

and lastly, "crystals" is a misnomer for trichomes, there are no cystalline structures (ie: minerals) on a marijuana plant, it is just a slang term for the trich's, and harvesting based on their color (clear/cloudy/amber) is the most common method of knowing when to chop

ps...i can tell you're a newcomer, i would HIGHLY suggest reading almost all the information you can in this forum as you have made several rather major mistakes and im suprised honestly that you have 4 living plants nearing the end of their flowering phase

(even mine could be critiqued severly, just trying to show you that ur 4 plants are choking each other to death)

note the size of the container (10 gal, 1 plant)

this plant sprouted on jun 28 and was placed outside Aug 15, the last pic is 2 weeks into flowering (8/24)
that's the explosive growth of 2 months when given adequate root space

thanks for the help. i mean im a teen, this was my first grow im suprised that i ended up with bud for my first time.. can you just advise my to what i should do from this point?

not a problem, just think back to when you first remember seeing pistils (the little white hairs that denote it as female) and then add roughly 8-12 weeks to it, i dont wanna mislead you by misreading your pictures so look around at some pictures of plants and see if you think its more indica (broader leaves) or sativa (long skinny fingerlike leaves)....most bagseed (my assumption of what this prob is) is gonna be some sort of hybrid as purities are rare enough and even more so from a bag

but if you think its indica (which i do) then you're lookin at 7-10 weeks and if its sativa it could be as little as 10-11 weeks to as much as 16 weeks

read up on checking the trich's composition, decide if you want a head in the clouds kind of high or a stuck on your @$$ high and you can manipulate it a little even though indicas are known for couchlock and sativa's a more soaring cloud 9 buzz

congrats on your bud, my first grow at 20 i wound up with 5 hermie's (trashed'm) and the 1 big girl you saw pictured above

i wanted to know if i could throw these plants into my closet, if i ran it with like 6 CFL lights? please explain to me what the necessities are to keep them growing indoors. would that fuck with there life if i brought these ones from the cold indoors? i hear these lights would work if i threw them in my closet facing them?

I want to bring these inside. i have a pretty small closet with white painted walls, its cool and dark down there. I heard if i put cfl lights about an inch or so away from the plants that it would grow indoors. i put a picture of the lighting i want to use, just put five cfl lightbulbs in those and face them right at the plants. would that work? please advise me on what the i need, im not looking to do something complicated and fuck around with all that hydroponics shit
