Unless it's been fixed since you started that thread, your pH is off. Runoff is a bad way to check soil pH. Runoff can be just water that ran down the side of the container, never soaking into the soil. Even if that isn't the case, the runoff pH is still a diluted version of soil pH. Imo every serious grower should have both a probe-type pH meter as well as a secondary pH tester to verify the probe's accuracy once in awhile. The cheap, capsule-type soil pH test kits usually work well for this purpose. They can also test soil pH when it's dry, unlike the probe.

thank you for the reply MF, i will go get a probe today. i have not done anything to adjust the ph since that last thread, i thought it was ok. Guess i was wrong:sad:. i have been giving them ph adjusted water the entire grow, would the ph of the soil still be way off? or does the ph of soil not really have to do with the ph of water you put in it but more the make up of the soil? and would this cause hermies? or just the droopy, clawed leafs like they have. or.........did the ph being off cause a deficiency and that deficiency caused them to hermie? lol i know theres a lot of scenarios, i just really want to get this and get this rite.

i was thinking of switching to FFOF soil just so i dont have to mess with soil mixes. i was kinda trying to come up with my own secret soil mixture but 'F' it.....at 10$ a bag i guess FFOF isnt that expensive. the super soil i used is suppose to be ph adjusted but who knows? its cheap and likely made up that way.

any other tips, comments, opinions is appreciated.

another couple questions popped in my head when i was out in my grow room just now.......im running chocolate rain, purple berry (gdp x bb), el monstre, the mask, and sannies jack x dsd all in the same soil mixture as the Big Bud and rock lock that im having the hermie and claw issues with. all the those (except the big bud and rocklock of course) look great! they are all at different stages of veg, not flowering like the big bud and rocklock but none of them are doing the claw/droop like the big bud and rocklock are doing. i just dont get it? why would the ph be off or affecting them, but none of the other strains? i havnt given them anything different than the others....only thing i can think of is they do have a little more worm casting in the soil mixture than the others do, could the worm casting be throwing off the ph? i really need to figure this out, i dont want to lose chocolate rain by having it turn hermie like the last two grows....its up next for flower. thanks for any help or tips guys, they are really appreciated.

Testing your ph is a moot point, if your have plants turned hermaphrodite.

Was that you who posted about the Big Bud in another thread?...because I just had this conversation a few days ago with someone who had BB turn herm on him, but no mention of the other strains. It's a pity too, all that good genetics from sannies to be tainted by the BB...Im assuming you purchased this from marijuana-seeds.nl?

Oh i know testing ph is pointless at this point..... i was just asking about it because i was wondering if he was mentioning the pH issue because he thinks thats what caused the hermie issue??

I dont think it was me that mentioned the BB before but who knows, i do smoke:-P..... im pretty sure this is the first post i mentioned them though. anyways im actually not sure where the seeds came from, my uncle ordered them from somewhere online but he cant remember exactly where......he ordered the Big Bud and recieved a fem. Rocklock for free, i took about 6 clipping from both and they all hermied on me...... the rocklock never flowered outside for him, so idk if its genetics or i just suck.

yeah i have a lot of sannie's genetics, luckly i only lost the different phenos of el monstre i didnt lose the strain itself, i still have the really smelly, fast flowering pheno i had really liked, i cloned it a week before things went bad.

Well if it wasn't you, than that further verifys that BB is a worthless 'strain'. Because that's two people here in a week.

Some strains will hermie if they are baking under the light or are too close to it. DinaFem warns about this regarding their Blue Fruit strain. Today I noticed bananas on the very tip of a Pakistan Valley @ 33 days flower. It's a VERY tall plant, and it was right under a 1000W HPS. I pinched out the tip and moved the plant to the side, couldn't see any more on the rest of the buds, hoping it won't be an issue.

i was thinking the samething......it kind of also made me feel better that it hermied on someone else and not just me, thats wrong huh:bigjoint: lol. not in the sense that someone else lost a crop but that maybe it is genetics and not just my newbie growing skills.... anyways i just got done pulling them and putting them in a plastic bag outside......sucks cause they look good even though they have banana sacks forming all over.....

i have seven chocolate rains going that i still have to sex, there next up for flower. i picked up some roots organic soil today, the guy at the hydro shop said it was better than FFOF....? so hopefully all goes well......

thats good to know, i never heard that before. thank you for sharing, thats definitely going in my notes..... all of the bananas i found on mine where at the bottom of the plant, they seem to be the newest growth forming on the bottom, like the bottom of the plant switched from producing female flowers to producing male ones.
