Hey, Im building myself a new growbox, and had a neat idea for the lights / cooling - I wanted to have a plexiglass sheet on chains with my cfls resting on the plexiglass, seperating the box into two halfs, and keeping all heat above the plants, with exhaust on top and an intake hole low in the side. question is, will the plexiglass melt from cfl's 40 watts and below? (real watts) couldnt find the temperature at which cfl's operate, and plexiglass all varies,
anyone got anything to shout at me?

CFLs are generally cool enough to touch when running so I doubt there is any risk of melting the plexiglass.

Also, heat rises.....The plexiglass is not really gonna do anything for you. If you have an exhaust fan up at the top that should be enough.
