a LOT cheaper than you can in the U.S. maybe 1/4 of the costs as opposed to the U.S. once you get setup. obviously you gotta buy a house and car or rent a place i guess. it's REALLY REALLY cheap. relatively no property taxes, low income and corporate taxes, very low wages for employees, low medical costs, low food costs, etc...I just wanna know how much US $ does it take to live in Coast Rica for a year with a family of 4?
do you live on the west or east coast shaggy?? i hear the west coast is much nicer, but i've never been before..a LOT cheaper than you can in the U.S. maybe 1/4 of the costs as opposed to the U.S. once you get setup. obviously you gotta buy a house and car or rent a place i guess. it's REALLY REALLY cheap. relatively no property taxes, low income and corporate taxes, very low wages for employees, low medical costs, low food costs, etc...
That's kinda what I figured. Been kicking the idea around a bit lately. Thinking I can just fly back to the us for the summer every year and work for 3 months and make around $11,000 which is the average salary per capita income Costa Rica. How much is a modest house and plot these days? It's hard to trust the online real estate agents.a LOT cheaper than you can in the U.S. maybe 1/4 of the costs as opposed to the U.S. once you get setup. obviously you gotta buy a house and car or rent a place i guess. it's REALLY REALLY cheap. relatively no property taxes, low income and corporate taxes, very low wages for employees, low medical costs, low food costs, etc...
i live on the pacific side. much nicer and much more developed. nicer beaches and more rainforest.do you live on the west or east coast shaggy?? i hear the west coast is much nicer, but i've never been before..
never trust real estate agents in costa rica. it's not a regulated industry and those guys are the biggest crooks. the first few years i was here i had guys trying to pull scams on me all the time and there was no way to legally prosecute them. they will try and sell you a property for 50% more than the owner is asking and then pocket the difference. all kinds of schemes. i've sold plenty of properties through them but i don't let any shady business go on. i've never bought one through them though. always dealt directly with the owner. That's kinda what I figured. What work opportunities are their if any.. can I live off my land like a rebel weilding a machete all day.i live on the pacific side. much nicer and much more developed. nicer beaches and more rainforest.

price depends on location. if you are willing to be in the central valley you can find a nice house on an acre for $50k. you'll be in a cooler climate and about an hour from the beach though. just kinda all depends how far you are from a "town" (bank, grocery store, etc...)
we don't see them that often. i've never heard of anyone losing a fish to them. has made me weary of getting in the water though. lol. i don't mind sharks, whales, huge fish, etc... orca's are a WHOLE other deal. Those orca screw upfishing like they do for salmon up here?
it's not like that here. you won't get kidnapped or anything. non violent crime is common though. they love breaking into homes and cars and stealing shit. the only violent crime is amongst the drug dealers and it never spills out onto the streets. you rarely hear of murders.Ok, so where do I have to move to not be kidnapped & have my organs stolen in the middle of the night..
