Hey everybody,

I have been reading on this site for a while trying to learn as much as possible and it has been an awesome ref guide. So here are some pics of my grow and I gotta tell you I have no idea what is wrong with these ladies. First some background. I am growing in soil, Its a compost based top soil from a local farmer (it didn't turn out as I thought it would; too dense and hard). I topped and FIM periodically to try and get the most out of these two ladies. The are under a T5 6 bulb grow light in a 48" X 48" X 78" grow tent . I plan on using a 1000w for bloom, but these plants have been growing for about 75 days and they are super slow growers. I'm using the basic fox farm nutrients (grow, big bloom and tiger bloom. Any advice would be great. This is my first post so take it easy on me.

Will keeping the light further away help the plant grow taller?

Without knowing environmental conditions I can spot nute burn on some brown tips of leafs curling down. It also looks like you cut off some leaf tips to get rid of the burnt tips?

Definitely the soil, it looks like they can't breath. You need perlite so the soil dries in 3 or 4 days. Do you have proper drainage, leaves curling under is a red flag for too wet too long. I wait to water when the pot becomes light, takes a little practice to get a feel for it. Good luck.

Also keep the light as close as you can, you want to keep them from stretching & getting weak & lanky. I place the back of my hand (facing light) just above the plant, if you can hold it there without it getting too hot for 10 seconds or so...... that's where you want it.

ADD: Repot soon!!!!!..... in a mix of your soil & 30% perlite 10% vermiculite ... doesn't have to be exact.

Yeah the soil sounds like a problem for sure..
You want light fluffy soil not rock hard kind..
And i agree the plants seem to be getting too much
Water.. Whats the ph? Ppm? and next time dont get
Soil from a local farmer bc they grow corn etc which
Doesnt mind the harder soil.. Go with fox farm soil etc

It's definitely your soil unfortunately. I run a Garden Nursery and we sell compost based top soil. That stuff is for filling holes, and for outdoor plants. Even then its best used as a top dressing, or mixed with another medium cause its so muddy. There is basically no drainage with top soil, which is prob why they look a bit over watered.

Not much you can do now, you could try transplanting them, but it'd be a risk for sure. Maybe just try to finish them out, learn, and try again!

Top soil is literally mud, there isn't a plant that likes it. You can grow stuff in it, with very undesirable results.

Damn it, the back of my mind was screaming something has got to be wrong with the composition of the SOIL!!! I will try and repot, and will be sure to keep updates. I just want to thank everyone and all of your advice. You guys are awesome, true professionals!

It's all good man, we all have made mistakes growing cannabis, but that is the best way to learn!

That being said, I think you did a pretty damn good job considering you are growing in top soil.

You'll be fine if you repot dude, they're still in a good stage to repot. As the other posts above say, use at least 30-40% perlite and maybe even just some standard potting mix to help it breathe!

Also what bulbs have you got in your fixture? For veg you should have at least 5000k-10000k in each bulb, then for flower a mixture of mainly 2700k with one or two 5000k in there :)

Your plants look ok though mate so wont take much to have them rocketing along :D

я бы хотел такую штуку!
