I am planning a first grow.. nothing on the big scale just one plant the medium i am planning on using will be soil and i am growing inside under 3 CFL's but.. the place that i will be growing in will be an attic that is not heated very well so i was wondering if there is any kind of alternative would a couple heating pads work? underneath the pot to keep my plant warm or should i use something else? any suggestions would be most helpful.. i am a newb and everything but i would really like to grow a plant because weed prices are so high and i think it would be a lot cheaper and maybe sort of an adventure to grow a plant.. any help will be greatly appreciated =)

Buy the book Marijuana Buds For Less by SeeMoreBuds. You will need to make some type of enclosure that you can heat. The amount of insulation you use will determine your success. Do some research, find out hwat is recommended for sidewalls and attics in your area and build something to match that, or pick another spot. VV

well it is like the only grow space i have because i want to keep my plant hidden and keep the smell away.. but i would have grown outside but it is too late for that.. i just need one plant oh btw the temp in the room is around 55 im thinking maybe i could build a small box out of plywood and insulate it then run heating pads through it? would that work?

no i live in my own house but i do want to hide it from frequent visitors and relatives so.. i figured the attic would be the best place

The attic is not the best place unless you are prepared to spend some money to fix it up correctly. Regular heating pads that you use for your back will not do the trick they dont put out enough heat inside an attic in the winter. Find another way, there are other solutions that if you research it enough I am sure you will find an answer. Heating pads alone will not do it, or even come close inside an attic.

well i do have a bunch of heating things i have a bunch of heating pads and a small electric heater.. and the lights alone would give of heat right? i was thinking of building a 5x5 box out of plywood and insulating it and having about 3 CFL's for 1-2 plants im willing to spend up to 500 dollars to get a decent setup in my attic

when i say five hundred i mean i''m willing to spend 500 on the grow box alone to keep my plants warm and insulated.. i already have a bunch of spare wood in my workshop.. so i don't have to worry about materials to build the box i just need to spend the money on some kind of heating source to heat up my plants..

get an hps is you have money to spend. cfls will give you less, wisspy, airy buds. hps will give u more denser compact nugs.

Well shit man, I spent like 350 on my setup and it just plain dominates.

I'd use a 400-600 watt High Pressure Sodium system instead of CFL's. Number one, it will heat your grow space up about 10-15 degrees, number two it will grow you MUCH denser buds.

Also, I would grow at least 4 plants at first, just because you have to assume that half will be males (although it's usually more than half because males result from a bad environment). With 4, you could count on at least 1 being female then just chop the rest.
