I need some advice with trimming near flowering stage.

Hey there. It's funny how this works out but I am becoming concerned with width issues as

opposed to my initial height concerns, which are no more. My plants are og kush and they just

keep getting wider and bushier laterally instead of putting on much height. I have done some

research and asked around about this, it seems my strain, even when stretching within the

first 3 weeks of flowering, grows wide not tall. My plants are around 17 inches tall right now

and keep getting wider. I have been contemplating perhaps trimming alot of the width, the

lower branches that keep getting wider, to create focus on developing massive top colas.

essentially making the plants thinner and top oriented rather than wide ass bushes with

little buds everywhere. I just do not want to stress or damage the vitality of the plants in

doing so. I have no experience in trimming for preparation of flowering. Will trimming the

bottoms and wide growth help me achieve the top growth and cut down on harvest

trimming due to not so many lil popcorn buds everywhere? I will post a pic of one plant and

exactly what the branching looks like, I really appreciate any

help in this matter ~ BCbuddy

lollipopping is common cut of the lower 2 or 3 shoots so it looks like a sucker :) forcing all the growth to the top cola giving less popcorn.

if that doesnt answer you question im sorry cuz i didt rele read it im baked lol

shouldnt be stretched. I have 2 1000 watt MH's and a 1000 watt HPS for veg. It will change for flowering.

that doesnt look like Og. very healthy green though.I wouldnt cut any of the branches beside cleaning up the real little ones on the bottom. wait tell you get sum buds on those then put a bamboo stick in the soil and use a zip tie or like I use wire and hook them up so they get support and it makes more room for your other plants

I persanaly would rather sacrafice a plant to free up some more space. It is ok to take a small ammount of the bottom section of the plant out and use for clone's by this i mean where the light will not penatrate may has well be taken away waste of nutrients. But if there is plenty of light reaching the bottom of the plants once a plant or two has been removed then leave the be you are takeing away ggod bud site's and this is not good practice.Sometime's less is more by freeing up some space the light will reach the lower section of the plant's and this will compansate for the loss of the one or two plant's that had to go.A general rule of thum though is that a plant will slow down it's verticle and width growth after around week 3 of flowering there will still be some growth but not much.To slow the growth down and also produce more heads[cola's] multiple topping can be done just top all the off shots not just the top main cola.
