I need to take clones and need a little help.

I don't have any root hormone but I need to take some clones. I am looking to take clones before I go into the 12/12 lighting. Can I start my 12/12 light today and take my clones in two days, when I am able to get the rooting hormone?

Any other help that you can give me to assist me in taking clones would be GREATLY appreciated.

ive heard that clones need all the light they can get until they root. So jus run it on 18/6 or 24/0 until it roots, an then switch to 12/12...?

I also wanted to add that I don't know the sex of these plants yet, so is it possible or even healthy to find out who the females are and then take the clones or should I take clones of every plant and wait to see who the females are?

i thought you needed to sex b4 cloning, cause the clones are the same sex as the mother or father... so you need to sex first, correct my if i am wrong, most people sex b4 flower too??? I think you need to veg longer.

I know that I will clone all my females once I know they are females. However, this is my first grow. I started off with 10 seeds and now have 10 1-1 and a 1/2 foot plants.

The reason I am going to start flower at day 30 is because I only have so much room.

I know this may sound a little sick, but I am hoping that a couple turn out to be males so I won't run out of space. :dunce:

There are several ways to go about doing this. To answer your question; yes you can wait 2 days into 12/12 to take clones. However, if your not sure of the sex you can just take a clone and stick it right into the flowering chamber on 12/12. Another way is to isolate a branch, and put an opaque bag over it and time it to get only 12 hours of light. Remembering to pull a bag off a branch every 12 hours can be labor intensive though. After a week or so it should show sex. Or just take clones, label them to the corresponding parents, and pray they're females.

I think I am leaning towards the latter.

ive read a lot of people flowering the clones, before they put the whole plant into flower so they dont waste time/nutes/power on them if htey turn out to be male

why not just identify clones example take two cuttings from one plant and if all is good keep clones and if not so good disgard be sure to know which clones came from which plant

If you put the mother plant into flowering before taking the clones you'll have to grow another mom... or stressfully re-veg it which could cause a hermie. Sounds like you don't have seperate veg and flowering chambers... if thats so you need em!

Take a clone from the mom, root and flower it asap... it should root fine in plain water many people don't use hormones at all.
