I only have 10days before I leave for 4 months, how to dry my buds properlu!!!

Hi there,

I am in a bit of a predicament. I have to leave the country for 4 months in 10 days time. I am planning to cut down my plants in 2 days and then I will hang them out to dry for 7 days. As I will have to place my buds and leaf (I am planning on keeping the leaf as a tobacco substitute) in storage for the next 4 months I will have to make sure that they are both properly dried so they won't get mouldy over the next 4 months!
Can anybody help me with this problem as I would like to find a way of storing my pot securely and without the risk of getting mould, whilst not over drying it either?!?

I'd personally remove the very possible risk of mold by turning into concentrates or freezing in preparation for turning into concentrates. I just don't see there be enough time to dry them to the point of prolonged sealed storage without risking mold during your absence.

You have little to no chance of drying buds in 8-10 days. This is just a bad situation. Best thing you could do is chop now and at the last moment possible do a dry ice hash. It's not hard and you only need a few things to accomplish this. Thats my suggestion.

And if you have could you give me information on how to do this properly??
I am a first time grower and everything is new to me

I think if you could manicure your plant down to individual buds you have a good chance of being able to dry them within 4 to 5 days then place them in jars with Boveda Packs. If you do use the B.P.'s your buds must be pretty dry before jarring. I believe it can be done, I've been able to dry buds within 5 days this way. Hope you can figure it out.

is there anyway to do it without boveda packs??
I live in ireland and ,especially in my location, we are about 30years behind everywhere else!

If you get them to the point of dryness that the stems snap you could probably seal them up in air tight jars and they'd be OK. No promises but I've see it done with good results. Hopefully you have a good place to store them- dark and somewhat cool. Good luck I'm sure you'll figure it out. Maybe someone else here has some more suggestions.

I would just turn into hash, or freeze the lot for when you get back and can then turn it into hash etc. It can take some time (espcially if you don't have any bubble bags), but is a very very simple process and will result in a fantastic smoke.

If you have super-low humidity, couldn't you hang them and have them dry within 3-4 days? Then get them in sealed jars for those last few days and get the humidity inside down enough to be stored long term. Might sacrifice some flavor and smoothness but I could imagine it would come out better than a lot of street/dispensary herb we find nowadays? And at least you get to keep your flowers..."unprocessed."

Not possible, unless you have someone watch it for you. I would just hang the plant up after taking off the fan leaves, walk away and come back 4 months later. Super dry buds, but I am sure they would smoke up quick, lol.

I actually like this better than my recommendation now thinking about it. This would be a very good way to go about preserving your plant material.
