I screwed up! Plants are too big, too close to the light.

I vegged these girls way to big and they are getting dangerously close to the lights. What can I do now? I am switching out the light tomorrow for a QB260 v2 kit (right now they are under a QB100 v2 and a optic 2 COB). Qb260 will position in the middle the light won't be able to hit the sides that well because the plants are so friggin high. Any suggestions, I really do not want burn up these plants with too much light. Next time I know to flip a lot sooner.

I was thinking maybe putting a second net in? They are in week 3 of flower.

I will add that the QB260 is substantially thinner and I will hang it from the top side polls all the way up touching the top of the tent. I will probably be able to add an additional 3-4" once the new light is in. If they don't stretch anymore I think I might be ok.

How late in flower are you?

I've seen guys supercropping very late in flower under similar circumstances

If you read the first post you would know I bought a diff light already, bought it way before these even started stretching... See, reading is fun isn't it?
Expecting people to read a forum post and make an educated and well informed reply is just to much to fuckin ask for man.

Beauty of a light, how muchc did it cost ya?
HLG had a sale for the last few weeks for $333, so I bit the bullet. I was tired of the shitty optic2 cobb giving very focused light in one small area not lighting entire canopy. I bought a hgl100 v2 to put beside it and it worked for what I was using it for, but I just wanted to consolidate to one light, strap it all the up and leave it. Less fuss, less heat etc.

I guess so lol.
I read this entire thread dudes and thought my response had a hint of humor to it… sorry you didn't fellas.

I hope so. Last thing I want to do is ruin a great grow about until now with a stupid mistake that I could have prevented.
Ya doing anything about your stretch issue?
@delstele had a good suggestion with LST.
Personally, I'd pinch and bend to at least a right angle.

Peace

I was just busting balls brother. In regards to the stretch, they seem to have slowed. It is in the middle of week 3 since flip so I don't anticipate them stretching much more. Perhaps the side and the back plants might come up a little more, its just the couple branches towards the front that were stretching like crazy. If I am wrong I will have to bend, add another net etc.

Plants are looking marvelous! Dropped PPM's last week as I was getting a decent build up and run off was 1250 and going in was about 900. Lowered to 700 with lots of run off and run off ppm has dropped to 750-800 for this week. I am gonna add some grow into the mix next feeding as I can see ever so slightly yellowing on a few leaves, or just up the calmag as I dropped it to 6ml's a gallon from 9ml's a gallon. All in all I cannot complain. The 2 plants on the left side have finally caught up some and stretched to meet the other 2 on the right. They are loving the QB260, frosting is more than I have ever seen in any previous grow (although these are the best plants I have ever grown so take that with a grain of salt). I am loving this GG #4 strain and I just might grow this again and again as it is easy and problem free in coco. Smell is incredible and If I even so much as brush my hand up against some leaves my hand is sticky and smells like a weed goddesses asshole. God dam they smell delicious. GG has always been my favorite strain. Coming up on day 30 on Friday. Come on day 70!

Peace.

To grow is to learn and on that note I would recommend you try more than one approach. Supercropping during flowering is usually fine, can't say all genetics are equal but I'm 100% confident that supercropping those juicy looking colas dangerously close to the lights increased my yield every time as opposed to not bending the bugger away from scorching lights. As you say, prevention is the best choice but we don't live in a perfect world where everything can always be prevented and optimized without a little trial & error. Try doing a 90 degree angle 'bend' on one cola when you have like 2-4 weeks left until harvest just to see what happens. You never know where the limits lie unless you push for them :)

Defoliation can be a good strategy too, depending on your personal situation and how the strain/pheno responds. I recommend you slowly start to experiment with it, especially with indoor tent grows.

"Last thing I want to do is ruin a great grow about until now with a stupid mistake that I could have prevented." - Rest assured, there are very few things that have the capability of ruining a great grow just like that. Most likely it's a bad fungal/pest contamination or equipment failure which literally ruins an otherwise great grow, unless you accidently adjust pH to 1.5 or something I guess. What you are experiencing is just a great learning opportunity here, obviously you need to react but even if just let those girls grow to the lights frying like Icarus, you'd still probably yield something, ergo not ruined :bigjoint:
