i think i did a bad thing.

umm...being somewhat of a newb to this and all, i think i just did a very bad thing. someone please tell me its not that bad. i was getting antsy with my newly planted seed, so i just kinda lightly nudged away some soil to see what was going on down there. i kind of popped the seed out of its spot to maybe about an inch away. i saw what looked like a root coming out of the crack in the seed. i pushed the seed back in the hole, root face down, and covered it with soil. whats the repercussions of doing something like this?

if the taproot was still small, you should be okay...

if you didnt damage it the most it will do is delay it a little bit from the disruption, but most of us germinate in papertowels and move them into soil/rockwool or whatever.. so you should be o.k..

thanks. im just getting impatient. the thing that worries me most is if im not ready to transplant outdoors when i should. i dont want to prematurely flower and reduce yield.

i have no idea really. im kind of winging it. the outdoor condition in southern cali this year (surprisingly) doesnt seem that great until maybe may. i guess i have ample time, but its still a concern.

It should be ok, but really u don't want to do anything to something so small, tender and delicate... If you don't mind a i'd be happy to provide a little advice about germinating seeds for you.

yeah its all about patience ...i have to practicaly handcuff my hands behind my back and put in a gum shield when i look at my plants on the last week or so of flowering lol ...........but the wait is worth it in the end .

I have noticed that sticking lights above the seed in the pot stimulates faster germination. When I did not have the light on the seeded pot - the plant came out three days later than when I did and it was really light yellowish green, thin, and lanky. The ones under the light were stubby and fat. Too bad the genetics were full of flaws. Just a crappy bag seed batch I guess. Half of them were aliens.

when I germinate mine I do several seeds in a single peat pellet and when the begin to sprout then move them into their own homes.

You just have to be patient and you can stimulate the growth with germination in the bottom of a water bottle with about five centimeters of water with some strong vegging solution - then plant. You could just keep the lights on above them and make sure at least the top four inches are moist and most definitely the top at all times.

quick question, once germinated i'm doing the two plates way wet paper towel etc, which way does the root got in the pot, root facing up, or root facing down?

Root tip always goes down, placing it up will slow emergance from the soil. The plant should emerge pushing the seed case ahead of it. (it sometimes loses the case, but it should still be at the top of the plant)
