I think I may have finally made cannabutter that doesn't suck

Usually my cannabutter looks like butter that has cannabis in it...and it does nothing...you can eat a whole batch of cookies, or just a stick of the butter and you get very little effect, and let's face it, cannabis isn't that tasty if you can taste it the way I am talking about in cooking...anyway even if you suffer through the cookies or brownies, or muffins, or whatever I have made, they taste like shit, and don't give you any buzz at all. But this time I made some cannabutter, and it looks totally different, and doesn't smell as weedy as normal..it is also smoother, as in it just wouldn't set hard...It was hard enough to collect, but still totally moldable, unlike real butter...I don't know if it has any effect yet, but am hoping to find out soon. Trying to just get some something started...lol

I cooked it for about an hour or so, on a rather low temp with the lid on...
Before I have cooked it much much longer, and it has ended poorly...I just keep trying people's recipes, and it ends up not good...

I just finished making some cookies, that don't taste too bad...as long as you get a bite with a chocolate chip or a raisin..the plain old cookie parts taste like they were made with pot...but overall the cookies are good, so that is an improvement...So...Imma finish these 2, and then see how I feel and I will report back as to whether I have got it or not...

I usually don't let the temp get over 180ºF when I make butter but I slow simmer it for 12 hrs. I don't get the strong earthy taste in the butter after it's done.

225f - 255f is where thc bonds to fat I belive. Any higher and you will start burning thc
makes sense. since THCA changes to THC around those temps. if it isnt that high wouldnt only the THCA be absorbed? you could always decarb the weed before making butter. than you can cook it at a lower temp..

and this is the answer to all the bad oil recipes

not saying your was.. but.. there is a heat and time pref for making oil

you can make oil in 30 days add pot to olive oil and walk away

or cook it.. at 180-225 for xxx mins..

the longer cook time means nothing to me.. cooked at all the times said 4-6-8-12-24 no diff..

my crockpot gets to 250 and I cook for 4 hours .. works like a 8-12-24 etc cook

did they work in the end?
Also did you clarify the butter to remove milk solids? My last batch I used ghee and it worked really well.

another thing to keep in mind is people seem to react differently to edibles. From a single batch I've seen someone eat twice as much as someone else and not be high at all, at the same time seen someone eat half as much and react badly, getting ill and nauseous ...

Well they seem to work...I never seem to finish a cookie...I get 3/4 done and forget...lol. I dont' like the weedy taste that I still taste...so it takes me a while to eat them...

What is this clarifying you speak of? I want to do that next time...you are not the first person to tell me that it would help me out a bunch. So...do tell.

Basically thc molecules bind to fat.. the higher the fat % the better.

Here's a guide

However if you can't be arsed like me you can just buy ghee butter, there's usually quite a few places that sell it.

The ghee itself has a bit of a strange taste too.. try find recipes with high butter volume and also are quite rich. Chocolate masks it fairly well.. also adding pieces of chocolate or other bits like nuts etc seem to distract from the taste. Chocolate brownies are a good example.

I made a lovely lemon drizzle cake that I keep in the freezer. ;)

Good luck

I wanna make strong medibles. How'd this work out?

I've had cookies from the Vics, I can eat 2 and they don't do that much for me. They recommended a 1/8 (1/4 if you have higher tolerance) cookie. Knowing myself and my tolerance level I ate one. Really didn't do a whole lot. They warned of psychedelic possibilities if too much consumed. Not even close. I did get pretty tired after about 4 hrs. Could see it being helpful with sleep.

Well eating is not a whole lot like smoking in my opinion...when I smoke I get thoughtful and chatty...when I eat it, I start to feel like someone turned up gravity on me when I wasn't watching...They are both good though, but for different things...I can smoke and then go do anything...but if I eat some I can't get off the couch for a bit.

I will totally try that next time. So it really makes a difference you say? I have heard people talk about how it makes it better. I can see how it would...as I said I will try it next time around. I assume you clarify and then add your pot?

have you got a slow cooker/ crockpot?

the last time did some, used a double boiler type system

so had a pot (the cooking type not smoking type) with water being heated on a low temp
then had a bowl sitting in the water
put the ghee into the bowl until melted
then added pot (the type you smoke not the cooking type) ;)
cooked for about 3 hours...
you basically want a very low simmer.
also if you are using trimmings only.. suggest just adding a little bit of bud too.. will increase potency

try the crock pot method, miss. 12 hours on low. and wring out the plant matter through cheese-cloth well. much of the dope clings to it.

i wonder if you could make frosting or something like that then the cake would taste great and the frosting would have the chocolate and sugar mask you need to make it taste better just a thought.
