I wanna buy a grow box - Which of these is best??

So I'm looking to buy a prebuilt grow cabinet and I found these 3 possible ones on ebay

Number 1 the lowryder

This one looks somewhat alright but the description doesnt say much - It says 24" tall but doesnt say how wide or deep it is, or anything about the fans or lights really - just that theyr'e 100 eqv cfls....so im guessing it has like three 23 or 27 watters..... Price is 229 on ebay

Number 2 the nug box

This one has more info on the auction - its 36x20x15, has three 55 watt fluoros, so 165watts and a 130Cfm fan and timer. Im not sure if the lowryder has a timer it doesnt say on the auction. This one has what looks like a decent manual too, but it is made of cardboard so idunno.its alot bigger though . Price is 239.00

And number 3 the one fifty

This one looks the nicest but its shorter than the nug box its 28 x 16 x 23 so its 8 inches shorter but wider. It has a 150w hps which has more lumens than the nug box - it doesnt sayhow many. Only thing is i kinda doubt it runs very cool with an hps in that small a box... itried one years ago in a crappy ass box i made and it got way too hot... says the fan blows 80 cfm.. i dont think it would stay cool. Its also the most expensive.. Would be like $390 with shipping... I think it might be over my budget - It says you can grow up to over half a pound in it - but i don't believa that...


Right now im kinda leaning towards the nug box .. looks like it has the most growing potential to price ratio... What one would you guys recommend?
 
Hey that is a nice deal... I would have to by 2700 K bulbs for that kit though, they are pretty cheap though- 20 bucks for 4 of em... comes with 6500K and no timer.. so im guessing like $360 or a little more with shipping.. not bad.. a little pricey but im gonna consider that one. thanks
 
buy a tent and some strong fluoros for start, thats all you need for the first two months.
from here on you can upgrade your gear every once in a while when you'll have the budget and your tent will allow you to do so.
growing in a small place is a PITA.
if you have the space for a tent, even the smaller ones, go for it.

Make your own and has what you want and it will be 10 times stronger..
 
I'm a complete newb. I just set up my 4X4 tent tonight and turned the 400W MH/HPS on (MH bulb). Damn! I'm stoked about this setup. It cost less than your last box for an air cooled 400 Watt combo and the Mylar tent.

Are you superlimited for space?
 
I'd go with something DIY style, I mean its really easy to just order some shit off line or go into a hydroponics store and see what they have but I think its much more cost efficient if you have the knowledge to build it. I've just been searching around & scoping other peoples grows and making a plan to build a flowering box.
 
Hey thanks all for the responses, you all are helpful ! So a lot are you are for the tent style, must be a good way to go...but yeah, i'd have to try to find a small one because i wanna fiti it in my closet Girdweed...and they're not too cheap - I'd like to get away with spending under $300 because I'm on a budget ..but maybe in the future - that HTG Supply smokebros recommended had good prices on all that stuff - and I'd never seen that site. Where'd you get your supplies Girdweed?

Anyway, I'm not talented with building stuff and i don't have tools other than screwdrivers and hammers and stuff....I tried building one years ago and it came out like a pile of. %^$# seriously.. You would think it came out of something's rear end, i guarantee it Irie. I'm still kinda leaning to the nug box... i dunno though.. i'll have to wit till my next paycheck to decide anyway...

I ordered everything from Amazon.com. HTG sounded alright but their shipping to Alaska costs as much as the products. Amazon (LED Wholesalers) had Mylar tents for $100. Here's a smaller closet sized one of $75. For a grow light, I ordered one of these.

The tent above is a little different than mine, both size wise and opening wise. I sould get one of the wing lights if I had the light purchase to do over again. I haven't designed a fully functional layout yet. Here is the basic pre-tweaked setup:

I'll be spending a couple of hours a day over the next week reading up and looking @ other folks' tents to see a good setup.

Do not buy a premade box you are getting ripped off, you can piece together your own tent for half the price. A few months ago i was just like you and wanted to just buy a system completely put together, not the way to go do it yourself and save the money. You need not much other then a drill for a carbon filter other then that its just like putting up a tent. I put together my own tent system and I'm loving the results thus far.
 
First off, thanks for the replies all! So what i want is something small that i can put in my closet and still keep my clothes in it, you know. So 3 feet tall max...that way it will fit inside with my shirts hanging over them.... So I guess available space is 3 feet tall, bout 20 inches deep and width doesnt matter... I looked for small tents but i cant find one. It will be my first grow, and I don't want something real big right now....plus i'm on a tight budget, seriously. Id like to spen less than $300 tops, closer to $250 would be best....

I think in the future if i like growing ill go with a tent, but i dont have the place to be puttin a big honker thats 5 or 6 feet tall.... Plus the money... Those are some serious good deals girdweed.. $75 for tent, $155 for 400watt hps, but that would require a pretty serious ventilation (I live in Cali and it gets real hot...90's all the time) so that's probably another $100 or so for a inilne fan.. so there's 330.. then maybe the tubing for that tube hood, timer, then carbon filter maybe, and whatever extra...that's gettin pricey for me.....right now at least.....

Whats the best grow box someone can put together for about $250 or so???
