Flushing typically refers to plants and not the equipment.
Do you mean a system that still has plants in it? What type of medium? Are the plants in pots?
Typically I remove the hoses and other parts and clean them with a 10% bleach solution, rinse them and put them back.
Hey bro, we use Hydrogen peroxide. It won't kill the plants if you have some residue left on the equipment. In fact some put H2O2 in the noot water as it helps prevent root rot. The stuff from the drug store will work, but is like %3. Your grow store should sell it. Sorry I did not really answer your question. But Bleach scares me. I want no bleach near my plants. gl.
well my runn is done and i just want to flush my system out because i have a feeling i may have bacteria and germs that cause root rot, the grow store told me to use bleach and water i just dont know how much bleach/water ... u say 10%
Yep, as long as plants are not involved 10% is great. It will kill everything. Scrub down as much as possible, flush through tubes and stuff and then rinse thoroughly. Unfortunately you may have some residue buildup in the tubes and without a brush it may not come out. But if the bleach water comes into contact with any organics they are bye bye...
I breakdown my set up twice a grow and submerge everything in H2O2. I run the pumps and flush all tubing out. Yes I think it is important to get ALL old noot water out. If it's too hard to move, may be get a shopvac? But if you think you have root rot you gotta get that shit out. I searched hydrogen peroxide and found a lot of info. Might try searching bleach as well, but NLX seems to know whats up.
