i want to try the wick system but use nutes in soil not the water

ok i got my last grow ripped off and im having trouble gitting seeds to start agian but i want to know how the wick system works and how well it work if i use soil with nutes in it and use just tap or rain most likly rain water but nothing in water just plain water

PS. any help from ppl that have done this would be helpful and thanks for helping me out ahead of time

Been browsing the site for a few months now, but this is my first actual post. I also wanted to try this so I did but to no luck, it was my first attempt and there could have been more to it since the plant had already undergone plenty of other stress; however, I do think it's possible, but would probably be best to do it using sand, or maybe even cat litter (oil dry). Any particular reason you wanted to use soil?
