idea about height?

ok i am having to grow in a space that has a very low ceiling and want to know what the min. height i need to make my grow box. i would like to use a 400 hps for flowering and also use the 6x6 rock wool cubes with an ebb and flow system and do the sog method. also can someone reccomend the best strain for height challenged grow boxes?

Well-Known Member
You will need about 3' between a 400 w HPS and you plants. That much room you might want to consider using CFL's. There might be more options if you search around this site.

Compact Flouresent Lamp. They are just like the bulbs put in your house lights.

i just read the posts on cfl man there is some way useful info there and that opens up a whole new door but now my only other question is how do i figure the electrical use of these versus the hps and to get the equal ammount of light of the 400 hps how many bulbs do you think i need. also how many can i put on one dedicated breaker?
