Ideal outdoor strains and techniques for monster plants?

Hey fellow growers, I'm currently in the middle of a modest grow this 2011 season and I have realized my love for growing bud so I want to really push the envelope next season.

I already have an ideal location scoped out and I am going to start preparing it soon. as for the plants I plan on starting at least 2 plants indoors near harvest time and topping them numerous times (2 maybe 3) and then just vegging the hell out of them under a 250w MH conversion bulb on a 18/6 cycle, towards the time I need to put them out I was going to dial the time down to a 14/10 schedule in 15 min increments as to not stress the plant into flowering. My goal is to have both plants at least 3' to 4' tall and fully vegged when it comes time to set them outside next April. I want 10'+ trees by time the Autumn solstice comes in 2012.

Anyways, which strains should I consider for this task? I'm using the attitude so links there are appreciated but not needed.

I am currently growing Arjan's Haze #1, White Widow, and White Rhino. I'm going to pull clones from all of these soon. I'm thinking I might veg the best Haze #1 clone for 2012 as well because it's very vigorous and loves nutrients. The strain reviews all say it's also has a great yield but I'll see on that.

So, who has any strains, tips, advice for me? Is my method of dialing down the lighting before I put the plant outside correct?

I'm really looking forward to 2011 harvest but I have my mind set on growing some absolutely gorgeous trees this next season, so if the world does wanna end 2012 at least I will have plenty of ganga :P

I'd also like to know something like this for next year. I want to top and lst about 3 of my plants next season but cannon decide the strain...

dude dont start vegging this year in oct or nov for next year in april you dont need too. i started my seeds this year in the 3rd week of march and gave them until may 7th before transplanting. my biggest ones now are around 8-9 feet and their just starting to pre flower. use some 1/2 gal - 1 gal pots and give them about 8 weeks and you should have a nice rootball to transplant and trust me you will have some monsters.

i used:
1/2 gal pots
pro mix bx
fish + seaweed / big bloom
5- t-8 shop lights

i topped my plants early so they would develop 4 main shoots. then i just vegged for 2 months prior to putting out. i dialed my lights back from 18/6 all the way to 15/9 slowly over 3-4 weeks. the last week i raised my lights a little high so they would stretch a little reason being i would have more plant to tie back when i transplanted. when i transplanted i tied all 4 shoots back using twine and garden fabric staples to hold the twine in place. they will bush out nice this way.then i topped about 2-3 times through the season.

i think the main thing you need to remember is, "the bigger the roots, the bigger the plant period." if you start early, establish a good root structure on your plants and then make sure you have a big hole full of good soil, you can grow just about any plant 10 ft by Autumn solstice.

if u started in oct and grew inside till march u would probly get like 15-20ft with even the smallest growing indicas and a good 30ft with a good indica/sativa hybrid

exactly. 8 weeks is all you need. you could grow a big ass plant in 8 weeks. i use to veg under leds in 3 gal pots and have 1-2 ft plants in 4-6 weeks.

I didn't think of raising the light but that's a stellar idea, noted. After looking into topping I'm going to use Uncle Toms topping technique for 4 main colas and and once each of those stems has a solid two weeks to grow ( 5-6 from topping) I'm going to top each one of those for 8 total stems.

I've never had issues with roots so Ill be sure to stimulate them. Honestly maybe I'm not telling my fully intentions by saying 10 ft plus, I want giants.

This is what I'm talking about. Now I want to start these inside so early (when I say harvest time I meant late October/ early November) so that I give them plenty of time to develop great root structure and recover from topping. And as I'm taking clones and may use them for this purpose I also have to give them time before I start yanking their chain.

You say jack 47 ehh? Ak-47 x Jack Herer! Looks really promising and I got alot of good reviews popping up on google search. From sweet seeds right?

And Frisian Dew?

Sounds Like an awesome combo.

I think you hit the nail on the head with those strains sir, much appreciated! Now I'm really pysched. The Jack 47 seems to be an excellent choice for the mondo gargantuan trees I'm envisioning but do you know how the Frisian dew will respond to topping and such demands?

Just so I'm clear, skip 10 feet, I want closer to 15 feet and at least 8 feet wide by time they are in full flower!

Here is an example of what I want as far as the structure of the plant:

This seems to be attainable with the sort of topping I'm calling for.

im not saying you have had problems with roots and im sure your intentions are to grow the biggest plants possible. the way to do that is by letting your plants roots explode into a big hole of good soil. " bigger roots, bigger plants that simple. "

I did not mean to come off as defensive, I'm saying that I can handle that task. What your telling me is the roots are essential to having a vigorous plant and I fully understand. My question to you sir is how do I maximize my root development while vegging indoors in pots and once I plant them in a prepared bed? I'm sure I can start with a good root hormone/nutrient so do you have any suggestions for that?

you maximize your root development sir, by using a medium that drains well that also offers enough oxygen for your roots to grow strong. i use pro mix indoors with fish & seaweed along with ff big bloom and it works great. once you plant them outdoors, use organic soil with lots of fungi and bacteria and dig a big hole 2x2x2 minnimum. outdoors i used ( 2/3 coco fiber 1/3 native soil and some leaf mold ) for fertilizer i used plant-tone from espoma and it works very well. it is full of bacteria cultures and microbes and it also kept my plants super green. i didnt do a journal this year but my transplants had a very nice rootball with bright white fuzzy roots. another thing dude, if your looking for advice to something you obviously need help with, you might want to stay open minded and not be so defensive. people are never gonna want to help you if you come off rude.
