Identify this issue....

Buddy of mine from Mo sent me some pics hoping I could help him with his issue.

2 week old rooted Wiley clones, 3 days in the bucket.

5 gal DWC bubblier buckets
AN 3 part- Online calculator says 1.5ml per gal for 1st week clones/seedlings, but he mixed 1/3 that
Tap water
PH 5.6-6.0
Air temp 72-78
Res temp mid 60's

I don't think it is too much nutes, but the more I think he needs to feed them the full menu or maybe they are just still working on roots since they have not stretched out of the net pot yet?

Also told him to get a meter, so he can check PPM's; but he is an old school hippy!

What say the hive?

Well, for starters, they should be in the 5 gallon buckets... you know, with all the water and nutrients and such.

But that's just how I grow...

Seriously, though... looks like the roots aren't getting water.

Hydrotron is dry... what's the water level like? Pump?

Looks like lack of water /nutes for sure, poor lil things look starveddd

I asked him to pull em out as they had the dreaded vertical bars in the pics from the light.

Plants were buried low, root level is at the bottom of the pot and the lower half is wet as is the white plug material he rooted them in!

Did they come straight out of a humidity dome? Is he compensating for the change in humidity by misting them? Kind of looks how my girls do sometimes when I first try to acclimate them to the buckets.

Dude, they're trying to hang on but you're not helping. Give them water! Make sure they get more water.

I just got off the phone with him and told him to up the nutes, up the water and MOST importantly find some new clones because those are not going make it thru the weekend!

I ran into this problem before, He needs to hand water from the top 4 times daily or whenever he floods and drains. Get those poor girls some food. Run a good 10-15 cups of nutrient solution over them by hand during floods and they will hopefully perk back up. Good luck.

dwc buckets dont food and drain. is your friend running and air pump 24/7? i do and never seemed to have any problems in the early stagesever.

Did he take the healthiest cuttings off of the mother plant. A healthy cutting makes a healthy clone.

Probably needed to grow out the roots more before trying to grow them big. No need to up the nutes till you get roots going.

Like the other guy said hand feed them a couple of times a day till they take off.

What lights are on these???? How close?? No need to put 4 1k watt lights on these just yet. If he is doing something like that

From what I understand... Closet grow using 2-150W HPS's mounted in a cool tube venting into the attic, 6-8" above his babies!

As for the clones.... Could not say! Knowing how he lives..... I would guess scrawny clones from a scrawny mother!

He is a like minded ex-coworker that moved to Missouri, but unfortunately to far for me to help other then across the net!

Backing that light off a couple of feet will help. He needs to eliminate any source of stress from the plant.

I would like to see the roots on one of these bet there isnt much at all. But that goes against what I wrote above.

Tell him to play with these but to start new clones in the meantime. And grow some roots first.

I don't know about everyone else but I put rooted cuttings right into full-strength nutrients (DWC). I don't treat them like seedlings when it comes to nutrient strength. They looked starved.

They would have been runts their whole life. Glad you told him to start from scratch! Im 3 weeks in, and at 3 feet, one is about 1 foot, but i will see what it can do. Been In 12/12 for 1 week.
Just have to have a mind set of, its only about $10 a start, not what it COULD produce.IMO
