If Aluminum Foil Creates Hot Spot

Because of a few big differences, the first being that foil is super thin and can wrinkle, it's the wrinkles that cause uneven lighting. The other reason is that the surface of the aluminum in reflectors is polished or finished in a way that makes it reflect light away and out NOT concentrating it . Basically it's not the aluminum thats bad it's the manufacturing process.

Foil does not create hotspots, thats just something some people hear and keep repeating... I think undercovercop has been looking for weeks for someone to show him an example where foil caused a burn on a plant.

Like he has stated, the only way you would cause burn with foil would be to make a parabolic reflector focusing the light like a solar oven. Sadly people keep posting this bad information.

I have to say i agree in that i've not actually come across any people who have actually experienced the issue. I'd have thought that for foil to create a hotspot it would have to be wrinkled in the perfect form to concentrate the light into a single point of intense light and heat.
