I agree plastic quality of lens, its proper mounting on led and lens size play an important role in efficiency. Can be anywhere between 80-90% efficient. Check out the secondary lens pic at the end of the page. It seems the 10-20% light loss is small compared to the gains.

Thanks, I think I will do this 87watt UFO with lens and compliment it with 40-80 watts CFL. This should cover about 2 square feet

Question for you fine folks before I place my order. I'm considering nine, vero 18's driven at 1400mA for a 2.7'x2.7' space. Four, 2700K, 90CRI and five 4000K, 90 CRI emitters. According to my very rough estimations. That should be about a (unintentionally) 420watt fixture including fans and output about 32,000 lm, assuming a 50*c Tj temp.
What do you guy's think? Over kill or under kill? Shooting for something that would be comparable in price, power draw, and output to those new Philips 315watt CMH.

I know LED strips aren't really as effective as normal LEDS, but I've made a small panel off a 5050 smd led strip, 14,4 W/m, and I'm planning to do a small PC grow because I've seen couple LED strip grows here. So, my problem is, it's a RGB diode strip and I'm currently running only blue+red,leaving green color off. My logic behind it is that the red and blue are supposed to be more intense if the green is off, and I'd like to know if I'm right about it, also, will adding the green color in (which will altogether make the strip shine white in color) add anything to grow or should i just leave it off? Thanks in advance.

What is the cheapest yet still somewhat effective LED light someone could buy for a closet grow of 4 plants?. and I WILL NOT use any multi band purple light nonsense...strictly white..2700K/5700K or what ever you guys would think is the best white aspect ratio or mix of colour temps.

Had to move from med mj state to non med state for family reasons. I need a stealth grow room in my new place to replace the 600W hps I had. I was looking into LEDs because there is less equiptment, heat signature and worries. I want to grow 1-2 plants in a 3X4X 7 area in FFOF to keep it simple. I am looking at 700W to 900W Red/blue/white with a range of 400-700mn with a infrared light and lens around 90 degrees. Am I looking at the right lights?

Find growers whose LED setup you like or think that's right for your situation and go for that. No shortcuts. No cutting corners. That's my .02.

I AM using 2 BML light bars + my 2 white ufos
However...
Due to 2 males, I moved the probable female from the led to join the other probable female under the hot5, which will be replaced as soon as the Spydr 600 arrives. Maybe by next Saturday
So IF you really care to watch, the BML + ufos are covering 3 clones taken today + the one plant that I was forced to FIM + a heavily trimmed male. So not a lot to see in the led tent just now

I have to agree with FranJan, Pet, you are really over doing it.
Every post of yours I see, no matter which thread it's in, you mention/recommend BML.
You're post are becoming spam without you even realizing it.
Besides, I don't know how you can recommend a light that you haven't even done a full grow with, yet.

Everything I've seen from BML is honest. Man knows his stuff as it relates to how to build a proper led panel for horticulture
Perhaps if you guys checked them out you would see why I am enthusiastic
Each of my 3ft bars have 45 @ 3w Oslons. Not exactly shabby
