$175 is actually doable for a 3x3 DIY led setup.

DIY or no DIY? Flower only or veg/flower?

I've been looking on here trying to find a good detailed how to on the diy led panels. Want to build some to have as backups. You have any links?

Lets try this...What would you do,in my situation?
I would do DIY, but I don't know exactly what version because I would design to fit your heating/venting situation and your local power costs would also be considered. In any event I would build a grid of COB type lights with a mix of 3000k and 6000k colors. If using for both veg/flower I would have 25% 3000k (always on), 25% 3000k switched with 25% 6000k, 25% 6000k (always on). This way you can switch from 25/75 in veg to 75/25 in flower. I would also supplement with a UVB bulb.

There cooling options are even more diverse than the COB options. Water, fans, passive heatsinks, ...

that is exactly what I would want if I built my own. Similar to the rw150s I just got. Are there any links with a step by step diy for something like this?

I haven't seen one, and I didn't think of the switch before I built my setup. Room 2 will have this. It's just a dip switch on the output of one of the drivers from 1 bank of leds to the other though.

Hook both LED bank negatives to the driver, attach the positives to opposite sides of the switch and the driver (positive) to the center lead. Done.

I'm sure it is relatively simple wth the right instructions. I want to give it a go. i almost want the exact setup of the rw150s. Can run white only for veg/flip and use for flower in same tent. Maybe someone will want to try to build this and post up the info.

I was editing while you posted, added the simple instructions.

Yea sounds simple enough. Definitly the way to go especially for my setup. Instead of moving from veg tent to the flower they can sit still:)
Yep, just make sure you use a 2 position switch with no 3rd off position or you could make a silly mistake and burn up the driver.

There was no reason to delete that...
I gave a full list with links to everything he would need to build a fully proven top of the line system. One that has been used and proven many times on here and in the world outside here. One that is backed by more actual evidence and data than anything else out in the market...DIY or commercial.

I did not lie or say anything that wasn't true. Somebeech asked a simple question and ____ attacked him. I gave a real answer with exactly what was needed to actually build it start to finish. Nothing in my post was false or attacking...just facts.

I gave a real answer...a real solution...with even prices and places to purchase it all. What more do you want. And best of all...one I use and can speak for personally.

Yea I'm not that far into knowledge on this yet so that doesn't mean much. Still have to learn about how their built

If a driver is on/powered it needs to be connected or it will burn out. I was just saying when you buy your switch make sure there is no off option, just bank 1 on or bank 2 on no off option.

If you want to turn the whole thing off you do that before the driver on the cord or at the power strip..

That should give you ~350w dimmable system and will kick ass over a 3x3(same as my drone). And would be easily upgradable in the future to a 1K replacement system with 2X the same parts.

Thanks GG thats my plan to get away from this TX heat.If ya have time you have a link,,,? pretty sure i could build
Just need the list of what not to buy as
far as bad components. As you know did HVAC for self a long time so wiring or woking with my hands im still pretty good.
The heatstroke is what like to killed me.
Acute renal failure.

Here is a real life and theoretically proven system/design...top performing components throughout, and most of the little stuff too.

The essentials
-6 Vero29 3K's $31 (~$190)
-6 Alpine11 plus coolers $9.99 ($60)
-2 Meawell hlg185h-c1400 $70 ($140)
-1 Meanwell apv16-5 $6.50
-1 50k ohm potentiameter $1.50
-1 power cord $10
-1 PK3 thermal paste $15...you will have plenty left over for future projects.
-1 Kapton tape roll $10...also will have plenty extra for more builds. ($10)
- ~10' of wire(5 feet of two colors, and at least 300v...600v if they have it. 12¢/foot. ($1.20)
- Wire connectors $3
- Heatshrink ~5$
$442.20

Optional ...simple way to put it into a one light system instead of hanging 6 sinks. But could be done many ways and put your own touches on.
-6 Aluminum angles ...to build a frame out of. $2 ($12)
- Nut/bolt combos to hold the frame and sinks together...~$10
-1 On/Off switch $4
-1 Bumper pack....to sit it down without smashing cobs. $2.5
-4 eye hooks and bolts ~$5
$33.5

$475.70

I will always go for CXA AB's if I can get them, but the vero's help the price and availability for small builds. And still are kick ass on efficiency.
