I have my grow cabinets built, I have some flouros, I have 1 bagseed germinated and planted. My question is this:

I have limited money, should I buy a 400w HPS

or

Good Kush seeds online/nutes/4 more CFLs/better ventilation/and mylar.



I run into the problem that if I get the HPS, I can't afford the rest of the stuff and if that 1 plant I have turns out to be male, I'm gonna be pissed. So I'm leaning toward the second option with the nice fem seeds. I just don't want my yield to be so much worse than if I had the 400w hps.

Input/suggestions?

buy some seeds for 20$ off a site spend 30$ on a work light spend 10 more for the bulbs your plants will grow mine did ;)
here is my current plants i got 4 ony showing you the bigger sativa ones

yes but read what he said he will have problems with the heat a HPS lets off for 1 plant? lmao i could understand 10 plants + HPS are expensive

Yup I'd go with #2.

With #1 you are going to improve your venting also, correct?

One plant and its an easy call, more (6 or more in veg) and I'd stay with the HPS for this grow and save money for the next grow.

Hope this helps your decision.

i would go with option 2 and get my cab set up right...then in a month or so get the 400w for the flower cycle.......

the good room is just as important as the light good seed can wait till you know how to use the basics. spend all that money on good seed and a shitty room is a waste.

Well with the good seed comes a good room, just kinda shitty lights.

Thanks for all the input though guys. Kinda mixed results but looks like leaning more towards option 2.

That means I'll get:

Feminized Afghan Kush
Mylar
30-10-10 Nutes
4 more CFLs
Good exhaust
DIY Deodorizer


I'll start a grow journal later today when I find my camera cord.

I bought a DYI kit and put together my 400w hps. Costed me $125 totall for everything including junction box. Not really that hard to put together. Then I bought a 6" cool tube. Total cost of 400w system w/ cool tube = $225

Hell of a lot cheaper than buying at hydro store or ordering on line.

Does this include some lower kelvin bulbs for bloom?

Some people grow with both during veg and bloom also.

Probably to save some money.

Its about the lumens.


I will lookout for the new journal.
