Illinois medical marijuana card wait time

I called a dispensary here and asked what they knew about the status of Provisional. Basically it sounds like there is more clearificafion that needs to be authored in the rules. The dispensary is hoping to know more by mid-Jan. Their guess is if everything falls in line, Provisional might be available in Feb.

My card should be in hand the second week of Feb, so I’m giving up on the idea of being able to use the Provisional access here... :(
"Forms"? 2 1/2 months to make forms? It's not that difficult. We submit an online app. They issue a provisional QP# in a letter. Dispensary checks it against system to see if still valid and checks ID. Otherwise it is the exact same process as other patients. The rules and record-keeping are the same, according to their admin rules published 4 weeks ago.

Jerking people around that have documented medical conditions with the prospect of provisional access beginning of December and then pulling it away just out of reach week after week is demoralizing and cruel. On top of their arbitrary 90 day wait-and-suffer policy.

FWIW I'm on day 63 and expect the holidays to extend my wait-and-suffer to end of January at least.

I agree with your rant. I’m at day 50, so I’m guessing this will not be resolved before day 90 for me... so I plan to just deal with my issues the best I can. I’ll get my card before they ever figure out Provisional

Just wanted to follow up with everybody—got my card on Wednesday. What a week it has been.

I’ve made at least 3 trips to the dispensary in the last few days...I could definitely get used to this.

The selection is great! Life is good.

This was so worth the wait. For the first time in a while, I have relief!
What was your timeline, date submitted to card in hand?

Which dispensary are you using?

Submission 9/26.
Card Issued Date:12/10
Card in mail: 12/26

I checked mail every day. The dispensary I elected to use is NuMed. Might try another one but right now I am happy with NuMed because they have treated me with kindness and patience in every one of my visits. I try to look at the menu to get an idea of what I will be grabbing before hand.

Also, I am pretty sure that I can call ahead so that my order is ready when I get there. I noticed that somebody did that while I was there the other day.

They have given me a bunch of free stuff also: free dab pens, dab pads, stickers, etc. They also have a royalty program, which is pretty cool.

So far, I have found that Revolution Splash carts and Revolution Terp Tank Carts are both great cartridges that pull really well and put me on my ass. The only difference between the two is that Splash is made with artificial flavoring while the Terp Tanks are flavored with terps. These carts will definitely be my go to for discreet medicating.

I tried the Lemon Tonic RSO by Cresco as well. If you are looking for a truly medical dose of 11-Hydroxy-THC, RSO is definitely the product for you. Side note, if you are trying to wean yourself off of Opiods, I’d say that RSO is for you. Some of it kicks in instantly (sublingual), then I swallow the rest and *off to the moon, Alice*

As far as flower goes, I got some Cresco’s Caviar (moon rocks), Bubba Fett (grown by Matter), and Alien Rock Candy (I think the grower was Aeriz or something like that). All great smokes.

In the concentrate realm, I got some rosin (grown by SCCS). I wasn’t super impressed. I have made rosin at home that looked and smoked wayyy better than this. It isn’t bad, but I am just not impressed. I will definitely be trying other growers with regards with rosin. I will be getting other concentrate in the future but at this point, this is all I have tried.

I am not even close to my limit but I have enough product to last me a while so I have to remind myself to just enjoy what I have and go back to the dispensary in a couple of weeks. Lol, most of the fun happens when you go to the dispensary and pick everything out, after that it is just a matter of sheerly awesome convenience.

I could go on and on but I’ll leave it at that.

I sent an email to the MCPP office at the IDPH earlier this month asking about provisional access, which regardless of when they finally get around to implementing it, IS in the law as written. They replied today:

"The Division of Medical Cannabis Pilot Program does not issue provisional license."

Period.

Whoever answered my email wrote that provisional access is ONLY for the opioid program. The actual law clearly states otherwise.

WTF is wrong with these people?

For those of you wondering how long it takes to transfer dispensary it took me a total of 24hrs. Here’s a new timeline to follow.

10:27am Sent IDPH email to change dispensary

11:30am next day called new dispensary and I’m good to go.

2:30pm arrived at new dispensary and got meds, freebie, and a very warm welcome.

Don’t be worried to switch dispensaries if needed. Only takes 24hrs.

Hi again everyone. I've avoided calling and have just tried to be patient - the state just cashed the check according to my bank. For folks who have gotten their card already, how long was it between your check clearing and receiving the card - or is that what everyone means by their approved date? Very happy it cleared, day before my birthday too!

Your check will be cashed before the approval date.

Thank you Tom, for picking up on this story, and shining some much-needed light on the shameful way the IDPH is treating those who are just seeking some relief! I'm looking forward to reading your story.
