Watering is a bit tricky I have just let the soil get dry and cracked. It seems as was said before if your plant needs anything it will tell you. And remember guys about to start your first grow that as a grumpy man told me when I first started, don't take anyone's word on anything use the advice as a point to start research. Mobistar grows are the same and everyone does it a little different. Do your homework it will pay off.

They look tiny to start flowering (but what do I know lol) How long did they veg?
Just the three weeks they minimally needed. In another thread I explained this was just my experiment to see if I could handle it, so I've got crap lights, just a 150W bulb each.

This is my first run at it as well I was also just seeing if I could and while not perfect due to my errors it is still coming along nicley. One trick o did pick up on was lights a ballast tube OS only like 9 bucks and the more the better I have two ballasts running as well as a few cones and my electric bill went up like five-ten bucks. It's easy to be a cheap bastard like me lol.

Once again, I'm a cheap ass, until I know I can grow plants consistently and well, I'm not ordering seeds. I've got enough bagseed to learn at least that well.

I tend to dive into things (not blindly of course) otherwise I don't do them. It's kinda feast or famine with me lol.

Checked it out my only advice would be while vegging keep your tubes as close as possible. Mine were way to far off at first. Took almost two months of veg to get to 12 inches. They love their light. Can't stress that enough.

hello fellow green thumbs.
i am also a n00b/first time grower. bit of a rocky start in the beginning but everything is panning out smoothly. *knocks on wood*

baby girls are growing fast. can't wait for harvest.

The Biggest i advice i can give anyone is perfect your environment.

If you can create a good environment for your plants then they will love you back for it.

Start as simply as you need to and dont try to run before you can walk.

You may or may not fail on your first attempt the point is to keep trying and learn from your previous mistakes.

Read all that you can, not just about MJ, about growing in general.

During my COCO growing days i was still reading about Hydro methods, knowing in my heart that this is what i was leading up to.

Seriously READ AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. Only a small amount of my knowledge has come from the internet. My favourite Publication is URBAN GARDEN MAGAZINE (although my local store hasnt received any since Feb).

Some pics of my last hydro run and harvest.

cfls? fo show, i use cfl's, they grow slightly slower than others... just gotta be patient and take care of them right. keep those lights as close to 3'' as possible. if not 2''

Plan out your ventilation before growing plants in the closet you can't modify. "ummm, my plants are 3' tall and I need ventilation RIGHT NOW ...and I can't cut any holes in anything"

Okay, I'll lay out my mistakes

1) I underestimated how fast a plant will fill up a nusery pot with roots. A 9oz cup takes under 2 weeks, transplant to 1 gallon and it fills that pot in two more weeks.

2) For my first time grow, I was scared of too much nutes. In retrospect, I think I have slightly starved them all along.

3) genetics does matter. All I had was bagseed. I might still do okay, but what came out was a variety of sizes/types. A couple are fantastic, others are kind of scrawny

4) I took on too much. I put 34 seeds (all I had) into sprout, 31 sprouted, 27 lived, 17 were female. 17 females in 4 gallon pots is a lot of plants for a single 1000W light. I think this light would can handle... at most... 12 comfortably.

5) I vegged for 8 weeks. I now think that maybe 7 weeks or 6 weeks would be better. I am hoping that I don't run out of head room by the time these are done. I have about 24" and 6 weeks left to flower. (I just started week 4 of flower)

Things I've done right:

1) Overall, I am doing good. I have told NO ONE about this. I went whole hog with 4 fluorescent (too start them), a 600W (MH and HPS bulbs), and a 1000W light (MH and HPS bulbs). \

2) I constructed a 7'wx10'longx8'h room split into veg/flower. When I topped the first batch, I rooted the tops, and kept track of which plants they came from. I had about a 46% survival rate of the clones, and about 60% were female, so I have 6 known female clones and I can cross reference them with they parents and pick the best for further propagation.
