I'm Going Straight to Hell for This

I'm thinking that Granny's old China cabinet would make a nice little stealth cab.
Planning on lining the interior with reflective insulation.
Door will be insulated as well and fronted with a piece of doorski
T5 adjustable mount on underside of shelf.

Any thoughts on vertically mounting a T5 to the back or perhaps on of the corners ? I've come up with an adjustable reflector that will direct light quite nicely from that angle.

Fans are a set I ripped from an unused laptop cooling pad. They are crazy powerful but very quiet.
Should my intake be 1 8x8 (I've read that the intake should be twice the size of the exhaust). My fans are 4 x 4 in.

I'm planning on a max of two plants at a time in this chamber.

Be gentle. I'm new (and Im a girl).

Id say you would want something like x2 60cfm fans through a 4" intake and exhaust. If it hits above 80f with the lights on, your probably looking at 80ish cfm per fan. I love building grow cabs. Ventilation is pretty much key here. Also it depends on how your ventilation is setup. You can have equal in and equal out as long as your fans cfm discplacement are equal and vents are equal(active cooling).

You could do passive, which i never have luck with but i live in a harsh hot damp environment. That involves making a hole for an intake that is not restricted by resonance(no intake duct of any size unless it is twice as big or bigger than the exhaust side) the exhaust will pull the air from the intake side by positive pressure unlike active cooling.

I agree with SPLFreak on the intake , your gonna want an active intake vs a passive intake in order to cool the cabinet.

@SPLFreak , is the SPL an audio reference & if so what are you running , im an spl/sq freak my own self .

Sorry for the threadjack lol. I have been an mecp master for 9 years as an installer, i donf have an spl vehicle no more, but i still got my daily, x2 sq3500.1/ x2 zx650.4 / x4 image dynamics cxsv2 2ohm (full active via 80prs) and a custom hybrid 15" sundown nightshade. 150.5 at the dash sealed 33hz.

Anyways crafty, i would love to have that setup, with some active ventilation and a carbon filter, you only gotta open that thing up once in a while to water and read health. Personally, i would try a 150watt LED panel in conjunction with 3 67watt 2700k cfl's in a proper reflector every 120degrees around the sides of the plant. Whoops, got excited lol sorry

Nice ! Looks set up for sq vs spl am i correct?

Im more in to 2 channel home hifi in a dedicated & heavily treated listening room , ive got decent systems in our cars but nothing like you , im glad i found an installer here .

I may need your help in a few days via pm if you dont mind on running 4 - 12 inch woofs in an 8 ohm series & 12 - 5 inch mids in an 8 ohm series , im perdy sure ive got the knowledge but i may need a nudge at some point .

Sorry for the hijack op , back to bizness :)

For a passive intake, you want the intake to be 2x the Surface area of the Exhaust....you don't need an active intake for a such small cabinet....

Hans LED panels would kill it.....stay away from the junky NO NAME leds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it won't be stealthy without a carbon filter...
No worries - I picked up a filter yesterday.
@SPLFreak808 Thanks for the specifics. Once I get the Granny Cab up and running, I'm def keeping in mind what you said. I'm waiting for a buddy to cut some holes in the back of the cab for me. In the meantime, I put together a sweet little 270 lb test cardboard box cab, complete with repurposed heat sink fans, a couple cheap Sunblaster bulbs and a 18 inch T5 HO.

@Tim Fox , not so much a girl as a Mom growing in hopes of saving my son's life .

Sometimes you just have to take things slow. Dont worry you will get there. I work 60-62hrs a week. Very very hard for me to take good care of my flowers. Also, good luck with your son. Save his life as in cannabis treatment?

Jesus, I sound dramatic. Modern Medicine has reached the limits of what it can do for him. I would be remiss in my responsibilities as a parent if I did not explore medical cannabis as a means by which to improve his quality of life.

Ok thats what i figured. I know a little girl out here that takes cannabis infused oil weekly. And she has not had a single siezure since. Good luck to you and god bless.
