You read it right. This is my first real outdoor grow. im at latitude 44 N.

My strains are wonder woman, master kush, and ak-48.
all from nirvana seeds.

the wonder woman plants have very small buds they look like they have only been flowering a week. there is only one master kush that has decent looking buds but nothing that i believe is up to par with other plants i have seen at this time of year. the ak-48s literally have nothing but preflowers.

as the days get shorter i cannot help but wonder why this has happened, it looks like i may be getting nothing this growing season. the weather is getting increasingly worse and i can only hope i end up with something.

the only thing that i think could have possibly caused this, could possibly be that i force flowered them when they were small to show their sex so i only planted females at the beginning of the season. could this have caused stunted vegetation, which slowed down flowering? could i have possibly just picked the wrong strains for my climate?

If anybody has any insight to what has happened, please let me know. i can provide pictures if necessary

Have had relatively same situation mate, one of them things gotta take on the chin, are you feeding flower nutes? Will help them along abit. My advice would be to tie branches down if you haven't already (promote air circulation to spite mould an mildew), can build a make shift shelter for them for when the weather gets really bad, pay close attention to ya girlies and hope for the best! Good luck!

I don't think early sexing is the cause. I know of some outdoor growers that do this. They force the plant rather than a clone of the plant. Either works. I'm not familiar with the strains you mention so I can't say if that's it, but seems like a full season outside would be enough for most strains to be budding well by now.

How is your soil, etc? I grow a lot of different plants/flowers and I know if conditions are less than decent the plants live but don't flourish. They don't die, but they don't seem to grow much either. They don't flower like they should. Flowering comes at a high cost to most plants.

If it were me, I'd look at the soil, drainage, etc. Basic things that are easy to overlook, especially outside. Of course, it's too late this season, but it's never too early to start thinking about the next. G/L, hope you get something from them.

And sure, post up some pics. Never get tired of looking at 'em.

Sounds like you're much in the same boat as everyone else I've talked to in Ontario. Some strains will be worse, you may be seeing that with the strains you ran, but the weather this year in this area (44N) has been the shits for outdoor. I've ended up flowering mine in my garage or I would have ended up with small buds, maybe oil or hash grade at best. I've had them in for a week or so and they're starting to fatten up nicely. Hoping 3 weeks or so of 12/12 will yield something. Anyone without that option though is not going to yield much this season. Good oil or hash material but certainly not A-grade buds. I left one small one outdoor and it's been fattening up the last week or so, but frost is probably 1-2 weeks away and it'll probably yield 1/2 of what I'm accustomed to, probably straight into the oil/hash bin with my indoor trim/popcorn. Sucks.

Yeah same here man, some are still preflowering at best, others maybe 2 weeks to 3 at the most in flowering. I have been reading on the weather network that it should be good in most of southern/Northeastern ontario until mid October, so maybe we can get like GroErr said and yield even half of what we are acustomed to. Sad year I'm afraid, but my advice to you is to leave them until basically right before snow comes/major frost like -3 and lower. at least the trics on the little buds will be mature and get you stoned, even if they are quarter size/ grape sized LOL.

Looks like it's going to be a tough season for just about everyone in Ontario. As others have said all we can do is wait out the weather and hope for the best. Everything I have could desperately use another 4 weeks, not impossible but highly unlikely. I'd rather it get cold than rain though, small ripe buds are better than big rottens ones.

^^Exactly, all we can do is hope. I'm sure everything will finish by mid October. It's just a matter of how big the flowers will get before ripening from the shortening of daylight hours in fall.

Pics and your feeding routine would be nice. How much sun are you getting? Im at 42 and Ive been flowering for about 5 weeks and things are hitting the home stretch. Could be a bunch of different factors. Try to figure it out and improve next year.

I've determined that Autoflowers are the way to go in Northern Ontario anyway, Cheese Auto XXL takes 80 days or so from seed and you have upwards of 4 or 5 ounces outside with little maintainance. Usually my photo's do great but with these unpredictable autumn's, and no way to light dep, I have no choice but to focus my resources on Autoflowers.

Have never tried auto's in or outdoor but based on this season I may give them a try next season, sounds like a good way to guarantee some harvest regardless of how bad the season goes.

Especially if you can only grow outdoors. You get one shot a year. Autos get a bad rap, not sure if it's deserved or not. I've always been curious about them as well. If only I had a bigger tent and more light... Maybe someday.

Ill get some pics up today. I filled the holes with pro-mix bx mycorrizae. then, i added lime, EWC, and happy frog all purpose. I've been top dressing every month with happy frog all purpose and have been adding happy frog bat guano since July. Next year I'm going to add a lot more compost into the mix. and possibly different organic nutes. I may or may not do a super soil mix.

As for light, they by no means get full day sun. they get pretty good sun in the mornings and the afternoon but near the end of the day they seem to be more in the shade. Next year I'm definitely going to plant in a place with no vegetation higher than about 6 feet, because clearing trees for sunshine was hard work and doesn't get them full day sun. i did a lot of scouting but i guess i could have made a better choice. it's all about the learning experience though. I can feel my field of dreams is within my grasp!

also, do you think i could keep them alive until the end of october?
This year you probably can, as long as there's no heavy frosts let them go as long as they can or finish... Looking like pretty cool temps coming up in Ontario towards end of the week, but not frost weather so go for it...

I had something like this happen before. Do you happen to have an outside flood light near your plants? I had a flood light that would come on automatically at night and it caused all kinds of problems until I realized and fixed the problem. I hope you get it figured out soon. It's probably to late to fix the problem now.
