I'm having a bit of difficulty making brownies... :(

Alright, Im kinda new to rollitup but ive been browsing anonymously for some time now. Over the last week, I've made 3 different attempts at baking with ganja. Going into this week, I was confident because the one time I helped in making the brownies a year or so prior they were very successful. This time, the cake was made using butter.

So the first night that I tried it, I busted up a 1/4 oz of some mid grade weed, just your average m39 indoor that you get here in ottawa all the time. On top of that, I added about 5 grams of misc shake and stems that I took out of my batch earlier that day. I was using a betty crocker cake mix this time, and the recipe called for 1/3 cup of oil. I was hesitant to use the oil instead of butter so I consulted this site and I read that it's really all personal preference when it comes to cooking with oil and butter. So I heated my stove to a 3, let the oil sit in the pan for a couple of minutes and then stirred in the quarter of weed and the extra shake and stuff. I let it simmer for half an hour stirring accordingly, and when the time was up the oil was very dark almost to the point that I couldnt see it in my frying pan, and the weed was also fairly dark as well, it looked like vape weed almost, just really brown like there was nothing left in it.

I thought I had done it because if I remember correctly this is what the stuff looked like the first time I made it. So i baked the cake the rest of the way accordingly, and I ate 2 of the pieces and didn't get very high at all. Not like the first time I ate brownies, or the other times after that when I was buying them from my dealer, those always locked me to the couch from just one.

I sold off this batch, re upped and grabbed some actual brownie mix. I was and still am determined to conquer cannabis cooking. Same deal, quarter ounce of your average indoor. Baked it into the oil this time for half an hour, on low again. I mixed it into the brownies and cooked them, wrapped em up and sold them. Again my friends told me they werent getting very stoned from them, and there was no body buzz that everyone wants when they eat brownies. I tried to play it off like I was stoned from them, but really inside I know I wasn't.

So again, I sold off the batch and re upped. The weed I picked up this time wasnt as nice, still indoor but it was a TEENY bit wet. I dried out the quarter Iwas gonna use for the cooking, and grabbed myself some of that bomb rainbow betty crocker cake, the stuff with all the coloured sprinkles in it. I was determined to make this batch the best, I wanted to get the trust back from my customers. Again, the recipe calls for Oil so I used it. ( Im starting to think I should go back to butter? ) I heated the stove to low, threw in the oil and pot and let it sit this time for an hour instead of half. I kept an eye on it to make sure it didnt burn. When i strained it though, the leftover ganj was darker then it was the other 2 times, which leads me to believe that I possible over cooked it. Anyway, I cooked this rainbow cake, it turned out looking awesome, but once again, I woke up this morning, ate 2 pieces for breakfast and went off to school. Didn't hit me. I felt kind of light headed and giggly but still no body buzz and no distinct "high" feeling that you can only get from brownies. Im stuck with this batch now and Im pissed because ive slaved in the kitchen every night this week staying up super late to cook this stuff while my parents are asleep., and its just not working.

So, after all of that, Im looking to know what Im doing wrong. Some things to consider:
- I have built up a much much larger tolerence to smoking pot since the last times I ate those brownies I first made and the ones I got from my dealer. Is it possible that they are infact potent but just not hitting me or my next level stoner friends?
-As I said, I used butter the first time I ever made them and it worked 100x better then the 3 attempts Ive done this week using oil.
- All 3 of the times Ive consumed these creations, have been on an empty stomach.
-Me and my friends also smoke pot while and after consuming the brownies, is it possible that the high j ust gets absorbed into the high that I already have from smoking?


Now that my novel is over, PLEASE, rollitup help me out.

if you plan to eat brownies dont smoke pot that day at all or it will ruin the buzz


be sure to run all your herb through the blender to chop it up real good but not into dust

i usually make butter in the crock pot like you see in the grow faq and use that in the brownie mix the next day
 
Really? I wasn't aware that smoking affected the high that you get from your baked stuff.
I am going to use some danker bud next time, and report back.

Before I do though, I read somewhere that any heat over 300F is too much, and all 3 of these attempts were cooked at 350. Apparently the intense heat is too much for the THC and it burns away? the site I read this from said to lower your temp to 300- even if it means you have to cook your goods a little bit longer. Can anybody confirm that?

So I've been making brownies for a little while now and all of my friends are LOVING THEM!! They knock you out. So what I've been doing that has worked is first..I grind my weed and when I put it on the stove in oil, I let it sit for hours on low heat. Make sure that it does not start to bubble. You want it just below a simmer. Once you do that, I use a coffee strainer and make sure I get every last drop of oil from the bud. I mix it all together and put it in the oven no higher than 325. I hear if you bake any higher than that, it burns all the thc. So far its worked for me..good luck..ill be here if you need more help.

Low heat is the keye when simmering. I add water to my oil and let the water boil off with the weed in there. Won't get hotter than 100C, and the weed wont vap. But as long as you are careful, a slow simmer on low is fine.

I make brownies once a week, i've found the key is use canola and really to cook that shit for at least 2 hours, you want it to look like this when its done. i find a good amount is about an ounce of shake for about a cup and a half of oil

My personal favorite is the betty crocker chocolate chunk brownies, i use about 1\3 to half a cup of oil and that makes 15 strong brownies, one will get you high, 2 will put you to sleep.

Okay the easiest way to make butter is this: I use about a ounce of shwag to one stick a 1/4 pound of real sweet cream butter. NOT MARGARINE OR OIL. If you are just starting to cook with pot do not use anything with oil. Okay here goes. Take the weed and grind it down with a coffee grinder or a regular grinder. Then take the ground weed and put aside. Take the butter in a small sauce pan and add water and on very low and I mean very low heat melt the butter into the water. Add the weed to the butter. The reason you add the water is to prevent the butter from burning. And if you use to high of a heat you will ruin the entire thing. Weed and all. Now let this mixture simmer for about 1 hour. Now your house will smell like weed really bad. So if you live in a APT. go to a friends house so you dont get busted. You should see really small bubbles in the butter and make sure you stir constantly. Once you feel it is done. Take the mix and with a cheese cloth or pantie hose strain the weed from the butter. This will be hot so be careful. Once everything it strained take what is left and put it in a bowl and put it in the freezer. The water will seperate from the butter and stay at the bottom of the bowl. Now once it has cooled enough you can dump off the water. And you have GANJA BUTTER!!!!

sounds like you didnt cook long enough, and you may have overcooked them too. use a crock pot, its fool proof

Very similar to my recipe except for a few additions. I start with about 120gm of trim (it helps to be a grower). Put it in 3-4 qts of boiling water, add 1 1/2 lb butter, simmer for 6 hours (that's right 6 hours). Strain through cheese cloth, then press out the trim in a potato ricer. A lot of butter will stick to the trim and this is the only way to save it. Throw the pressed trim away and put the pot in the fridge or freezer. When cold remove the hard butter. Makes about a pound of finished butter, you can't get all the butter out of the trim. Elaborate and time consuming but the butter is heavenly. If you cook the weed in oil or butter you will vaporize the THC.
Be careful with this stuff, it takes about 2 hours to come on and the tendency is to get impatient and eat more. My son ate half a pan of brownies the first time and couldn't come out of his room for two days. No kidding. He's a bit more careful now.
If you have the time and the weed try this, you won't be dissapointed.
