The sulfur plasma is the one to watch, the one your talking about is a metal halide plasma, made by luxim. Sulfur plasma is close, but not yet mass produced in the scale we want.I've heard quite a bit of talk about plasma lighting being the next best thing, but until they can emit the important RED wavelengths that plants really use a lot, they just won't be quite there.
Yeah thanks Redoctober, ive been meaning to fix that since a bunch of grows ago, but Im lazy. haha. I did my temporary fix, tape fixes everything.^^^^^good call on the light leak Red....
Swift....keep the pics coming...everything looks healthy....great job.
LOLYour humidity is as low as Tony Tedeschi's ballz. Do you ever run a humidifier in there for veg or do you usually just lave it around 25%?
haha, even higher doesn't hurt for veg. And for the record, TD's balls hang hella-low.LOL
I usually run the humidifier, funny thing is, its right by my cab just sitting there unplugged. There goes that laziness again. Ill hook it up and get the humidity where it needs to be at 40%.
My last couple of grows, I didnt use the humidifier at all, but thats going from clones to flower.
You know super thrive doesn't do shit right? Lol I'm just messing, I use it too, have for about 15 years. I can't say it does anything but really, it's cheap and the bottle lasts forever!DAY 5
Well the plants are moving along nicely, the nutes are up to 400ppm. I added a couple drops of superthrive in the water, so that should help things along.
HAHA exactly its a placebo effect, been using it since grow one. And I got alot of grows under my belt. Bottle was cheap and it lasts for years upon years, dont know how they turn a profit. You know super thrive doesn't do shit right? Lol I'm just messing, I use it too, have for about 15 years. Sorry to hear about your issues. IMO 2 of those lights should be enough coverage for that table and i would run them at 24". You've got to consider the overlap outside of the core footprint and evaluate how much extra intensity that is providing. I tried running 4 of them in a 4 x 4 and torched the plants (when they were 180w). Now I'm running 3 @ 24" using the 140w PS and things seem better but not good. I assumed that 4 x 180 would be perfect for a 4 x 4, but it proved to be too intense. Good luck with the recovery.GOOD NEWS.
Alrite Im back, after a great ass vaca in vegas, im back reporting my journal. Well I had a great time in vegas, got this awesome vegas coupon book, was eating 3 dollar seafood buffets, had about 1000 dollars of free play at slots, poker, black jack, table games. Hit a few shows with 80% off tickets, went to a bunch of comedy clubs with free tickets. Rode the rollercoasters and bungee for cheap. All in all vegas was amazing, came back with 400 dollars in my pocket from the slots. 6 days of fun.
BAD NEWS.
Well I check on my plants and its a disaster. Well disaster might be to strong a word, but I was expecting some major growth. Looks like the 4 leds I was running in the cab was to much power at that height, I have bleaching on some plants, some plants look like they are stunted in growth. Look like I got some nute def. I loaded the reservoir with nutes before I left. I was running the 4 led at a height of 20 inches, I think thats what did the plants in. I mean I can recover the plants no problem and thats what I plan on doing. But I lost about 6 days in growing time, maybe more. Which sucks.
I got to rethink this height for running this much led power. After I come home from work, Im going to raise the LED in my cab as high as they can go. I might not be able to run 4 led 560w of power in that cab because of height, maybe 2-3 but we will see. Before I go to work, im only going to run 1 led in the cab, because its just way to much light intensity at that height for the plants right now.
Whats funny is that the 2 led Im running in the closet, they are at 30 inches away from plant tops, those plants are almost as big as the plants in the cab, and they are almost 2 weeks younger.
Got to get ready for work after my fun ass week vacation.
When I get home I will do my stuff in the grow room and throw up some much needed pics.
HAPPY GROWING ALL
Yeah, these LED are powerful. You really have to watch the height you run these LED, way to intense, way to intense when you have these lights grouped up together. Recovery in process.Sorry to hear about your issues. IMO 2 of those lights should be enough coverage for that table and i would run them at 24". Look into house & garden magic green foliar spray. I don't know how it works, but it is awesome. I use it as a cure-all. If I see some unhealthy signs of growth, or if they just look sad or droopy, a quick spray before the lights go off and in the morning they look like new plants, perked up and seems to stop the bad in its tracks. Sort of pricey but a bottle will last forever. Excellent product for health and vitality.Yeah, these LED are powerful. SO I put the lights at the top of my cab, I used screw hooks, to the actually hook on the LED. Right now my lights are 35 inches away from plant tops. Almost 3 feet. I dont think I need all this LED power for veg, im running a test though to see if I get any problems running all 4 led. If so I will run 2-3. Plants dont look to bad, but the growth they could of had during vaca week is lost. The plants that had the LED directly on them are smaller then the ones getting that side light.
DAY 21 (with 14 days of actual growth )
Here are pics of my new set-up, thats the max headroom I will get. So next step if thats to much power for these young plants, is turn some LED off. But I will be using them all when flowering comes into play. The temperature is great. Stays below 80. Nutes are at 900ppm. Ph to 5.5 drift up to about 5.8.
Here are my babys, you can see the damage that happend over the week. Not that bad looking, but a week wasted of growth time is always bad.
Turned the flash on my camera, so you can see the damage better.
Im going to go to the hydroponic shop pick up some repair nutes, we will see what I come out the shop with. Might get some cal mag. Now that my lights are at 35 inches instead of 20, my plants should do a lot better. Only time will tell. Grow still going, will get back in the better growing phase end of this week. Im watching these plants like a hawk now. Checking them constantly, waiting for the first sight of a unhealthy plant.
Happy growing all.
You dont think pro grow is any good? I have read that they are comparable in quality to Spectra and Advanced.I'm interested in what version these lights are as well. Was in the market a year ago and Spectra was the only proven LED. Now it looks like Advanced has a good diamond series light and Spectra been having troubles. Interested in the current state of Spectra.. users of versions 2 and 3 have conflicting results. Would be nice to see some results from a current Spectra and Mike's input on version issues.
I'd like to see a diamond series VS current version Spectra (3?4?). These are the only 2 LED companies that are worth mentioning in my book, and I've researched them all. This comparison has never been done and should be!
Which 2 should I run Shwagbag, the two middle lights or the two outer lights?I would kill 2 of those lights and run at 24". That's just my honest opinion from working with these lights for a few months. 2 lights on that table will provide adequate core saturation as well as overlap, any more and you're just asking for problems during either veg or flower. Good luck with the recovery, hoping they bounce back and do it for you in a hurry.
