atleast not for rifles I haven't bought a hand gun but I had just turned 18 I bought a semi auto sks with a 30 round mag and a bunch of ammo I only had to wait about 15 minutes for the background check and I walked out with it and I live in new england.

consider yourself lucky. where i am the laws are oppressive as far as guns go. we have some of the toughest laws its irritating. so many types of firearms are banned here plus you have a 10 day or 14 (i forgot actually) day waiting period.

so excuse me for getting it wrong. here to sell a gun it has to go through a licensed FFL dealer. you cant just sell to someone

30 round mag? grrrr. we arent allowed over 10 im pretty sure (how much crap is that)
