Well Canndo there is a huge misconception on conservatives that I don't point out because well it will fall on deaf ears. First republicans don't hate the poor, because most are. Second they only want some kind of freedom, not being harassed by cops speed trapping, not being restricted on what one can say good or bad, not a for profit prison, not having to pay taxes 15 times on the same thing etc. Almost every republican you talk to will agree we need a national health care, just not a POS they threw at us. We believe our Military is a self driven engine that is out of control, we believe that we have too many branches of law enforcement for the same thing, and last we see this country as becoming a police and nanny state. Now our politicians are not reflecting that, but that the general thought we share. Now you do have some crazy religious type that you have to weed out(pun intended) but I think that's from both sides.
Republicans don't hate the poor? of course this is my observation from many many years arguing with them but so long as conservatives are republicans then they do indeed "hate the poor". They see the poor (other than themselves as what you say is true) free loading, leaching, lazy and deserving of nothing. I will agree that it seems that a conservative (note how I managed to change the subject of the argument) will genuinely wish to teach a starving man to fish so that he can fend for himself, but let that poor man ask the conservative for a fishing rod and some line and he will be denied.

Now can anyone honestly say that the DO want speed traps or being restricted as what they can say or having to pay taxes 15 times? No, what I have a problem with is that conservatives most often wish for moral conformity and they are willing to impress that conformity upon those who are not so intent on such conformity. Don't make me pay for your 10 commandments at the court house steps and I won't make you pay for my abortion - but this is not a bargain that conservatives are willing to make, they do not simply wish to be left alone, they simply wish to be left alonethat they may be free to impose upon others, I believe that you may think you can say the same about the left, but it really isn't the same thing.

The left believes that government can work, the right believes it cannot. Now in the grand scheme, we are forced to have a government, if we are forced to have a government then wouldn't it be more effective to earnestly believe that government is capable of solving problems and then go about having government solve them? Oh sure, the right contends that every problem can be resolved without government but that is not so if we agree that government is necessary because if it is necessary than it has, by virtue of its necessity, solved problems.

HAHA We will have to disagree on this, all we do to solve problems is throw larger amount of money at broken things. I agree with abortion so I guess you could call me a centralist, but regardless I vote on common sense, and I am only seeing retarded shit from both sides.

Then nontheist? do you contend that government is not a necessary evil and we need no government at all?
