So I was out in my backyard and I was moving potted plants around. I had a leak that I was using to water my oregano and peppermint but since I fixed the leak I had to move the plants to a better location where I'd remember to water them. Upon moving the oregano I noticed a weed growing by a thread. Now, most people would simply pluck a weed out, but this one caught my eye. Something about this weed seemed different....perhaps it was those segmented leaves.....

So I'll post a picture and you let me know what you think has sprouted up in my oregano. Hell, I wish I bought more plants from whatever hardware store I got them from if it is what I think it to be... What should I name the strain, Oreg-oh-no-you di'nt?Oreg-oh-no.jpg

It sure looks like weed but it's easy to be fooled, a lot of plants look like weed when they're just sprouts. I had about 30 weed-looking sprouts in my garden this spring and not a single one turned out to be cannabis. But yours might be, time will soon tell.

I am going to bring it inside, keep it warm, but away from other plants as the soil might have spider mites dormant. I need the stalk to firm up before I even think about transplanting. I hope to God I can bring this up, I'd be sad for something this miraculous to wither up.

I gave it a little water today with half strength 10-10-10 ph'd to about 6. The stem is super leggy and the baby leaves are yellowing and sad. the new leaves look okay though. I'm worried about how little the root is actually in the soil, but if I can get it to survive maybe a month as is, then I can spoon it out of the oregano and give it a proper home. Hell, I just realized that I can clone it as soon as it is large enough as a contingency plan.

Last night I noticed that it had gone all floppy. I checked this morning and it definitely looks like it is shriveling up. I sprayed it with just a pinch of water in case somehow it didn't get enough, but I'm not sure why it looks so dead.

cool, but ur story and the picture are making me think 2 different things.
1. wow what luck.
2 damn that looks like a plant dropped in a hole made by a finger

The shadowy area is probably where i tried to bury a bit of the stem with dirt. When I found it, it was/is very leggy with most of the stem and possibly root exposed. It was just hanging in by a thread, with the plant itself dangling over the edge of the container it was in. The plant looks like it's going to die now, so I'm really let down that this oddity may not see fruition. It would have been cool to raise it, clone it, and flower it.

This video gives me a little hope:

Well, the poor little bastard died. We'll never know what genetic secrets were to be had in this mysterious little sprout. Not knowing is the worst of it to be honest. I hate not knowing the ins and outs of a great mystery. Sure, it would also be nice to know how it got there, but as the title states, I have no problem crediting the beginning of this short-lived tale to a "higher" power.
