Impeach Obama?

President Obama is going to plead his case tonight to the American people on national TV, as to why we must attack Syria to show the world that the use of chemical weapons will not be tolerated. Congress is leaning away from granting him that wish, but he states that he really doesn't need it, that he is just being nice enough to ask. Polls stand at 61% of voters do not agree that we need to attack, while only 27% support going to war, which actually is nice for a change. So, my question is this. If Obama goes against the wishes of the American people and ignores Congress, which he claims he can, could he, or should he be impeached? One way or the other, this is going to be very interesting to see what happens.

Maybe all the people that want to aggress against Syrians should go do it, rather than have others go kill on their behalf. That might lead to fewer conflicts.

Any President can be impeached if the votes are there.

This as I have said before is all about the mid-term. Instead of NSA-IRS-EPA, Ben-ga-zay, we have Russia and Syria, oh My!

Instead of announcing the strike has happened, we get the next act of the Play. And then we see Act 2. What a great idea.

We just ask Syria to give up. How come no one thought about that?

And the media plays along. Contrived. Kerry, I guarantee you, had the "what could Assad do" question planted, and his answer was read from his notes.

I saw it. The speech tonight is to kick off the mid-term election season, nothing more.

Pres taking a page from the Bush playbook, and if the economy wont perk up, lets start a war, and move it along... just think of all the bombs and drones being built to keep it going "...It's the economy stupid..." has never rang more true...

It is kinda funny. But, it is the myth in action, so I can't blame her.

The myth is what the Office of President is not. The Office of the Presidency cannot be changed in its duty. Yet, another after another, individual sits in the chair and calls the shots.

He has the enormous power of the Presidency to use or squander and that is just our opinion of what he did. But, he is just a citizen with personally almost no power, no money, no freedom, can't drive his car, guarded 24 x 7, etc.

What he cannot do dwarfs out of existence sometimes the few things he can do. That is the power of the individual. Figure out what few things that can be done, and don't worry about praise or scorn.

Do the right thing when no one else besides you and a few people know many of the facts. Easy to screw up, like Kennedy and Nixon and all of them. Not one has managed to be impeached out of office yet.

If Obama does choose to commit forces against the wishes of congress and the majority of Americans it will be one of the clearest signs yet, Obama cannot stand behind the promises he made on the way to the White House. Lets disregard the fact it was an anti neo-con ticket, professing the opposite to what the US had experienced under the last administration and just question how would this action contribute to the safety of the American populace, when Syria's Assad has not directed any threats or hostile intent towards the US?

Who will really benefit here because it won't be the Syrian or American people and if Assad does fall, what do all the foreign fighters do next? Which sectarian hotspot do they jump into with their new found weapons?

As for impeachment, Bush/Cheney never saw it, Clinton was a joke and before if it got that far he would probably step down effective immediately to save the country the disgrace and embarrassment of impeachment proceedings...

I just can't shake the feeling that Obama is scheming something purely political, for political clout. I just don't think he is stupid enough to squander it all on Syria. He has shown repeatedly that he is a brilliant and devious planner when it comes to gaining and using political clout.

He is up to something.

If you try and impeach Obummer...how many others will fall? Many! That is why He will never be impeach! Although I Pray he does but will never happen.

The best reason to not even consider impeachment can be summarized in two words: Joe Biden.

Obama is such a better poker player than the likes of the crew located at RUI...on to the "turn card"

Doesn't congress HAVE to vote in favor of war now if we want diplomacy to work? Not sure "turn those chemical weapons over or we'll be really pissed and do nothing about it" is much of a threat.

He bluffed on the flop, needs to bluff on the turn too, but the bluff has to have at least SOME credibility. He was better off with his original stance that "we don't need no stinkin congress". Something tells McCain told Obama he had the votes when he didn't.

Oh, and nothing impeachable has occured up to this point that's any worse than the all of the other so called impeachable offenses.

A voter recall would be pretty bad ass though.

The War Powers Act says that the POTUS has the latitude to commit troops to combat zones, but, within 48 hours of doing so he must formally notify Congress and provide his explanation for doing so. If Congress does not agree with the troop commitment, the president must remove them from combat within 60 to 90 days.

This little tid-bit will save him from impeachment. Hell just ask Bush.

There has to be an immenent threat. How is Syria more of an immenent threat than Iran, North Korea, Russia? Please make an argument that Syria poses an immenent threat to the US while making the argument those other countries don't. Good luck.

No, the war powers act does not give the POTUS indescriminate rights to bomb people and invade countries, holy fuck at Obama supporters. It's like you guys want a dictator as long as it's your dictator.

The president can drop bombs in sovereign countries without permission because we let him get away with it, not because it's legal.

thus far the O-Man hasnt done anything impeachable (as far as we know) and unless somebody catches him with a dead girl or a live boy, he is safe from impeachment.

Edit: incompetence, lying to the people and the congress, violating the right of states to make and enforce their own laws and general ass-clownery are not impeachable, sadly.

he doesn't call the shots, america is a terrorist nation run from Israel, obama being black was enough of a distraction and all he has done is continue from bush, next it will be a bird who carries on from obama.

How revolting it must look from the outside. We've had 2 civil wars already, yet only one Constitution. The oldest and yet UN-assailed.

The French had 5 so far, but still the basis that the President can act, militarily on his own is still there. Only the USA and France have that, as I understand it.

Guy I don't want war on Syria. I merely state the facts...take it or leave it, but it is what it is. I got out the USAF because of Bush and his war on Iraq. I also disagree with Obama if he calls war on Syria, but I do realize The War Powers Act can allow him to do this...now how hard do you think it would be to make Syria a immanent threat to the USA? not hard at all
